Joshua,Thanks for that. Yes I am familiar and I may have an older edition on hand. Doug,

Not sure what type of device you’re working with.  Have you checked the 60335 standards?  There is one for vent hoods and a couple for vacuums.  The vent hoods is more geared toward commercial kitchen venting, but you may find something
 else in the 60335 family.

[PSES] Applicable safety standard ITE equipment used on a factory floor?

2019-09-04 Thread Joe Randolph
Hello All:

I have been asked whether IEC 60950-1 and IEC 62368-1 are appropriate safety
standards for a "box" that resides on a factory floor and provides internet
access to a variety of sensors distributed throughout the factory floor.

Are there other safety standards that are specific to ITE equipment used in
a factory environment, or are IEC 60950-1 and IEC 62368-1 the most
appropriate safety standards use for this type of product?

Thanks,

Re: [PSES] Vacuum hazards

2019-09-04 Thread lauren . crane
Hi Doug,

I’ve been working with EHS and vacuum systems for many years. I’ve never seen
any ‘vacuum hazard’ discussion per se. Generally the hazards are proxied by
mechanical hazards (e.g. pinch points), pressure hazards (e.g., explosive
venting and accidentally creating a pressure vessel by improper design of a
venting system), entrapment or confined space hazards (if the vacuum chambers
are large) and perhaps IH hazards such as potential asphyxiation by nitrogen
displacement (if venting with nitrogen). Of course, vacuum in and of itself is
not harmful.

Regards,
Lauren Crane

[PSES] EMC+SIPI 2019 Procedings

All,

For those of you with membership in the IEEE EMC society.

After receiving a link by email (http://www.emc2019proceedings.emcss.org
) I've made several
failed attempts to download the proceedings using Firefox, Chrome and a
download manager. Each ended with a remote server shutdown and a refresh
always started at zero bytes again instead of picking up where it left
off. Is anyone else having this trouble?

Thanks, Doug
