I have an axis with 50800 counts per inch.
This gives me the proper amount of travel but in the wrong
direction- I am only turning the screw by hand
When I use a negative 50800 it is correct. Will this cause
me any problems or should I flip the A and B around?

Silicone-based insulation is very good from a temperature perspective,
though they are typically more expensive and mechanically weaker than PVC
isolation. It's pretty nice to work with though, as it's very easy to strip
and very flexible.

The classic wire wrap wire has kevlar insulation, and I believe that it
handles heat pretty well.
Teflon insulated wire does well, also, but it is a pain to strip without
the proper tool.

Just use thin transformer wire. The self-fluxing type (usually red, not
orange)
Tin the end in the air, then solder to board.

Thank you Mr. Wallace for the great info. I'll feed back when my prototype is

Hi, I have a question for you electronics experts out there.. I
have added a little lathe to my mini-mill which I want to act both as an
'A' axis or an independent lathe. So, I would like to use the same
stepper to drive the spindle in both cases. As it stands at the moment I
