That describes both connectors. But they apparently don't unlatch the
same way.

The list moderator has decided I can't post pix. So I'll see if I can
remember enough html to make it visible on my web page, but not tonight,
I'm beat and my back is yelling at me in painfull language.

Don't get old, after it wears off that you have had the ultimate revenge
by outliving all your enemies, its not as much fun as you imagined it
would be 60 years ago.

As they say, a picture is worth 1000 words, got a phot of the stuck-on
connector. some new types are not IDC but use a stripped and tinned cable
in a clamp with a hinged cover. maybe you could post a photo?

[Emc-users] waaaay off-topic plea for help

2021-05-20 Thread Gene Heskett
Greetings to the 3d printer folks;

I have ordered, and rx'd after about 2 months, an exact replacement for
the Robin controller in this BIG bed slinger printer, but in changing
it, I found the replacement display cable was 1, defective by being
pierced in shipment cutting at least 3 conductors, 2, not shielded like
the OEM cable, and 3, the ribbon connector on the replacement board is
not from the same vendor, so the connector on the OEM board doesn't open
using the usual pry its cover towards the incoming cable at the ends
technique.

The OEM board has a death grip on the cable, a 20 lb pull won't move it.

Does anyone know how to release this older connector?

That wasn't what I was trying to say, Andy. Freenode is an irc server and
we all know it. And it works IF you can find an acceptable alias name.
But it seems all the names I want use are already taken (by me) so I
have been denied. Many times.

Forums, another breed of com utility, but if you forget your password,
you are denied the ability to create a new account because you are
already known. And because you are known your can request a passwd
change token that never arrives. Wash rinse and repeat, till you give
up. So once again you're blocked from posting. If you are known, then by
God fix the passwd recovery so it works. It really is that simple.

I've had a fixed ipv4 address for into the second decade now, and in this
case it is not an advantage. And I have one email address, also
unchanged in over a decade.

After a breach or spamming attack they have set up logins for
registered users.

??

Freenode is the host of the IRC chat. I don't know why you would need
a login, and didn't even know that they had forums.
