I was taking a closer look at the data sheet from AMC. http://www.a-m-c.com/download/datasheet/dr100re30a40ndc.pdf Now I am not sure if maybe it couldn't still work with just an encoder. In the description of the programmable digital inputs it said 2 programmable differential inputs,

I bought an AMC servo drive off ebay for a project I'm working on. Problem is I didn't pay close enough attention to it's part number (DR100RE30A40NDCC) and missed the fact that it is for resolver feedback instead of an encoder. I just wanted a digitally controled drive with encoder feed back
