I was using E17 with the new Ubuntu 8.10 and realized that the cpu
frequency wasn't scaling. Then I checked that with gnome and even
without a window manager and it worked fine.
Well, it seems that E always starts its children applications with
nice +1, and Ubuntu has the file

Some modules (as Settings) cannot be removed when they are add in the
desktop as gadget. have you a solution ? this is a bug in the module ? in
the gadget manager ?
