or a gl_x11 window (or framebuffer, etc). That way the engine can be set globally or in the per-app config.db, but the user always has the choice of whether to use software or hardware rendering based on their hardware at the time, rather than it being hard coded. -- Shish

than gdb program, because in threaded apps cores are always dumped, but using gdb on threaded apps is painful. Also, with the no-core approach you need to run all your apps in gdb just in case they crash, whereas cores are automatic. -- Shish
