and most of the tutorials a bit formidable. Has anyone with experience
with it any interest in doing a workshop/class in it any
I wouldn't mind at least knowing how to create a few basic
shapes and how to render but for the most part I myself don't
really use it.

Easier to break than a standard laptop, costs more, have fun
getting the touchscreen working properly under linux. I do
assume you would lose the original OS ;)

The course at this site looks interesting but isn't one or two of the larger
programs enough to work with? Also it raises the quetion for me has anyone tried
wings? If so how does it compare to blender?

Count me in, as interested but not experienced in Blender. I am curious
about the different versions they've made: I remember when the FPS
gaming engine became built in, and then most recently they have a
release which is tailored for video production, IIRC...
