Run OSS as root when you first log on, and then keep it running. You
can automate it to start at boot.
As far as HTML editors, go to freshmeat.net or linuxberg.com and do a
search for HTML Editors. There are tons out there, so you shouldn't
have a problem.

I used to have an external USR modem that was the PPP connection for
my Slackware system. I had Slackware configured to automatically re-establish
connection whenever connection was lost. Of course, over phone lines,
I didn't really want 24 hr connection, so I just turned of the modem
