Some listed here:

Also small, medium, and large vans from Renault. Theyve just updated
their
Kangoo and Master E-Tech vans. The Master has a 3600 lb payload, and a WLTP
range of 285 miles with the 87 kWh battery.

Most of the EU brands, such as Citroen and Renault, dont have a US

available there, right?

Or is it mostly pickups rather than vans in the US? (Tradespeople here
usually drive vans, seldom pickups.)

I'd use the gray schedule 80 electrical PVC conduit, and something like 3" to

I've emailed both organizations.

I realize I can wing it and ask for a 120V outlet, but how is that grocery
stores, etc are putting in charge stations and hotels don't? I would think
hotels would be the first place you'd see chargers: it's a great perk to
advertise, if I'm stopping at hotel - I probably really need to charge, the
cost is small compared to the room charge, it makes them look 'modern', etc.

A couple of points to consider:

Any idiot with money can own a manufactured EV He /she will run to the factory
if a tire sprung a leak. It takes brains and perseverance to do a conversion.

A conversion is not going to be spying on the owner constantly (reporting
home) and is totally owned by the person. It is not under the control of a

/I was a little offended when Bruce implied Tesla owners are snobby. I am
certainly not nor or other Tesla owning EVDLers.../

A few years ago I was participating in the local club's display of EVs. I
stepped up to two Tesla S owners talking just as one asked the other if he had
ever dropped down from a local mountain summit. He had not. I chimed in that I
had, and they gave me a look of disdain and turned away. Last year I was at a
get together with some people I used to work with. A VP was proudly discussing
his Tesla S when a friend mentioned my converted EV.
Again the look of disdain, that my friend would even mention such a vehicle in
the same conversation. Not all are that haughty, I know a couple who are not,
but many more I have met are. Some Leaf owners similarly look down on converted
vehicles as not real EVs. When I mentioned I had a converted car to a new
local club member he asked disdainfully, What's it got, lead acid batteries?
with the seeming implication it was useless. When I explained it had lithium
cells and about the same range as a Leaf, he started talking to another Leaf
owner nearby to change the subject.

My impression is that the new manufactured EV owners like to think they are the
avant-guarde. The above club member referred to himself as a pioneer.
All those earlier EVs don't count, even though some commuted daily for years in
those lead acid vehicles, showed that limited range electric vehicles could
be very useful, and provided quite a bit of learning.

If that's what it takes to get people to buy EVs, that's fine. I just don't
feel like attempting to interact with them anymore. I no longer participate in
the local EV club, and if someone asks if my car is electric, I simply respond
yes, and continue on about my business.

Mike,

Caveat emptor.

A US company, but I can't see any information on the website that tells me
they have a good cell, modules or packs. It is rather uninformative. I
can't tell if they are more than an outlet for a non-US company.

To me the most important thing to know is what they cells are made of, and
have they had useful life testing; which is to say high precision
coulometry. WIthout that knowledge there I very little about the life spec
that is comforting. This will be hard to get from any manufacturer because
it is new. But the usual life testing is very weak. If you find out more
about the actual chemistry then you could look into that. Kick it around
on thes forum.

They say nothing about their US facilities. If I had to guess they are
made overseas and branded ENRDEL. I would want to know more about that
manufacturing.

They do not cite a single customer application. They talk about how they
could do these applications, but don't identify any actual uses.

There is only one actual photograph of a cell, module, pack, or BMS. All
CAD renderings - not a good sign. http://www.enerdel.com/se175-384-a-secure/
shows a completly generif metal box with lifting eyes. Not even and
ENERDAL log.

Call me suspicious.

They might be an outlet for a perfectly competent Chinese manufacturer, or
who knows what.

Maybe you can get them to show you the beef. Maybe some testimonials? A
happy customer you can call?

The biggest showcase of electric vehicle conversions in the country is to be
staged at the Cheese and Grain in Frome.

Next month about 30 electric vehicle (EV) conversions will be gathered in
the Frome car park to demonstrate how people have up-cycled their once-loved
fossil fuelled cars, bikes, vans and motor boats by EVolving them into
zero emission electric vehicles.

The event, being held on Sunday, March 29, has been described by organisers
as a celebration of what is possible in the world of eco-friendly up-cycling
and electrified emission free transport.

It will also celebrate record breaking EV Technology with the world record
holding electric motor bike and speed boat, which will be on show.

The EVolution Show will be the biggest showcase of EV conversions in the UK
and a chance for EV drivers and supporters to come along in their electric
vehicles, to celebrate all electrified transportation and the transition to
pollution free travel.

Those not yet in the driving seat of an electric car will also be welcomed,
to be inspired about the world of EVs and meet EV drivers and supporters.

The event is being organised by UK Charity Zero Carbon World. Zero Carbon
World has donated more than 600 electric vehicle charging stations to venues
in the hotel, tourist and leisure industry, creating an open use charging
network called ZeroNet, helping with the transition the electric vehicles.

The Cheese and Grain has two charging stations for use by visitors as well
as Frome Town Council's new community electric car share scheme.

This will be launched at the town's Growing Frome Potato Day and Seed Swap
this Sunday ) from 10am to 3pm, and will be a feature at the EVolution Show.

There will also be a program of free talks and presentations at the
EVolution Show about electric vehicle conversions, technology, batteries and
other EV delights.

Where can I find that information?

I've never seen it addressed directly as a main topic of discussion, but
throughout my decades of following the auto industry it has been referenced
 countless times
from a broad variety of sources
. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda, comes this typical remark:

Honda, despite being known as an engine company,
  ... And this:

 Honda has been the
 ...
world's largest manufacturer of internal combustion engines
 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_combustion_engine measured by
volume, producing more than 14 million internal combustion engines each
 year.

From *The Causes of Structural Unemployment...* by Thomas Janoski, while
discussing Toyota he adds this casual aside:

... the company strategy is long-term and focused on automobiles (unlike
Honda, which sees itself as an engine company doing automobiles, lawn
mowers, jet engines and other products).

 From
 http://www.torquenews.com/1083/2014-honda-accord-plug-hybrid-and-2014-2014-fit-ev-help-us-see-where-electric-car-market-going
  comes this toss-off:
Honda always prided itself as being a motor company.

From *Honda: an American Success Story...* by Robert Shook,
Honda is neither an automobile nor a motorcycle company, but an engine
 company
 .

From an article in the *Reading Eagle* newspaper on Honda's 50th
anniverwsary, Yet Honda has always considered itself first and foremost as
 an engine company.

These were just from a single Google search. I could go on ad nauseum, but
 you get the idea.

 Chris

Interesting. Yet they are also very involved with standards for
electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. I see them all the time in our
groups that deal with EV charging. I suspect they are trying to branch out.

Cheers, Peter

May be they will branch out into building electric motors for EVs?

Subject: [EVDL] co-operation

In this forum we have all the skills necessary to set up a franchise that is
in it's self not for profit but works to further the development of a
market for converted cars which could be a fraction of the cost of the
current manufacturer's cars. This would really get things going.

Could you elaborate a little on this. I am a little confused (senior moment..my
natural state) as to what you are saying. Thanks.

Bob Bruning a is a great evangelist for 110v, L1 charging at work using
existing 20 amp circuits. Way cheaper than L2 when parked 6-9 hours. He built
a solar Prius

Any URLs to learn more about this?
