RE: The universe cannot be a machine.

Sorry, Roger but this is a terribly naïve view of

the physical universe. For instance, how do you

distinguish between machine and non-machine?

Hi

The universe cannot be a machine.

For life cannot exist without an intelligent observer

(to find food to eat, to judge friend from foe, etc.)

Is artificial intelligence possible ? No.

Why ? There cannot be a science of intelligence.
Intelligence is the ability to make autonomous choices,
not choices based on some external algorithm or computer program
such as in the game of Life.

(I reason with the mechanist assumption all along)

Yes, the physical universe cannot be a machine, as it is only an
appearance from inside a non computable arithmetical reality.

Life implies indeed intelligent observers, but they exist as a
consequence of elementary arithmetic.

I kind of agree as "artificial" is a quite relative concept. Ig God
made humans, then that only confirms that artificial intelligence is
possible, in some sense.
And human will not succeed in making "intelligent" machine, but the
truth is that they will not succeed in preventing machine to develop
intelligence by themselves. Intelligence is easy, but it is mainly
emotional and cultural.

Here you should study cpmputer science which excels in self and
autonomy. 99% of the work in computer science (and perhaps in
education) is more to control that intelligence than to encourage it.
Humans fears themselves.
