If you are using MOM for strictly E-mail monitoring, then you got a
elephant gun for shooting small game. The last time I looked monitoring
200 servers was considered a small installation.
Pretty much you are covered on everything using the default settings;
however, you'll want to tweak your
Well it is used already on the customer's site to monitor the other
servers. After pouring over the documentation and the default settings,
I agree with you just tweak the alerts. Thanks

My Exchange servers developed an interesting problem over the weekend.
When I got to work this morning the Exchange Administrator account was
locked out. The following events are logged around the time when the
account gets locked out and I am unable to find any information in the

We have an exchange server where the store.exe seems to be slowly using up all the
physical memory. Has any one seen any Q article for this problem?
We also have another server that runs in tandem with the problem server and this does
not seem to leak memory (two connector servers)

Marc,
Exchange's Store.exe will use up all the physical RAM it can get.
However, it is generally well behaved when giving it back to other
processes that need it. Are you seeing errors on the server?
Your conector server probably isn't exhibiting this behaviour since
Store.exe isn't doing much.

Hi All,
Would someone just confirm for me the suggested method to replicate all
public folders to a new server, and once replication is complete the rehome
the folders (server migration).
I'm a little unsure whether it's better, but more tedious to do it using the
Public Folders section of

What concerns me is the fact that the memory usage for the store.exe just creeps up
all the time. On the other server it is pretty static.

using so much memory is the one that actually houses the mailboxes. Correct?

Marc,
As mailboxes get accessed, messages moved in and out and so on, RAM
usage will increase. This is normal. A quick search on the MS KB for
'store memory' will give some articles describing instances where things
are going wrong, but from the information we have here I don't think
that's the

Sorry both server that I am looking at are connector servers. The only difference that
I am aware of is that the one that has a memory problem is has one email account on it
for postmaster.
I did a quick comparison of memory. See below

Cheers.
This is a connector server with one account on it (Postmaster for NDR's etc).

Start from the Home site and make the changes there. Do the replicas
first, allow 24 - 48 hours for directory information and the replicas to
do their things and then make the changes to the home server.

In Exchange 5.5 you need at least one store on the server, even a
connector server, so that NDR's and the like have a place to go.

I guess what I was thinking really didn't get down on the paper clearly.
You should follow this procedure:
In the Exchange admin program, go to PUBLIC FOLDERS, ignore the
system folders for now.
Find the PF branch that you want to move to the other server
in your site. Find the
Add an entry to the list of 'hosts and clients with these IP addresses' for

No, what you said made sense - I guess I'm not that clear on what doing that
way does different to doing it on the Public IS instances settings,
assuming that all the existing public folders are only located on one
server.
If that's the way to do it then fair enough, it just seemed it will take

How do you get a hardcopy list of the names in a distribution list?

Export the list using directory export specifying the Members field.
Note, however, the names will show in their X500 notation. Such a
utility could be scripted. Perhaps something already exists on

I did give that a try already and I got no good results. I've even tried
telnetting into the Exchange server once having made that change and was
still given the 550 message. And, yes, I did restart the IMS. I'll give it
a try with a full reboot of the server. Perhaps there's something glitchy
