perused the FAQ and can't come up with an answer...
I have a user with a fairly large mailbox (2Gb) and many folders under his
Inbox. Running OL2K SP1 on Win98SE, Exchange is 5.5 SP4... User had a

You can easily export the Exch 5.5 directory to a CSV file, modify the
Primary Windows NT Account value, and import it back to reduce the chance of
skipping a mailbox

In the DCOMCNFG protocol tab there is no UDP/IP protocol there is only connection
oriented protocols and TCP/IP is on top.
I rebooted the server and I am getting more DCOM errors.

In my (granted, limited) experience I have seen the cause of this to be
whatever AV is running on the Exchange Server. If an item is being

I am extracting a number of mailboxes, using multiple tapes, from a recovery
server to PSTs. To ease the process I am trying to use the batch method. I
correctly changed the exmerge.ini file to use a the file mailboxes.txt,
where the directory names belong. The recovery server is a standalone MS
You're correct in thinking that the directory name is what you need. You might try
leaving out the commas, leaving just the slash separators in your strings.

But Klez only comes in SCR, BAT, PIF, or EXE
Based on another posting I just saw, I looked in the Exch2k Mailroot\vs1 directory and
found that I have 9039 files in the Bad Mail directory (taking up 34 MB of space). Do
I need to kill them?
Thanks,
Arch

Actually, if your testing proves its appropriate, you might want to decrease
OpenRetryDelay, not increase it. Increasing it could make Outlook timeout

recovery server so I can retrieve from my offline backups in case I need to
retrieve a particular mailbox. I know I came across it on the archives but
can't find it anymore.
Only if you want your 34mb of drive space back.

What's the best way to view the info in that badmail directory. I know I
can see the files with notepad but is there a quick way to scan them
all? Maybe some way through outlook or something?

Is there an option in outlook to leave the pop3 email on the server? In
other words, don't download it and then delete it.
TIA
