GFI MailEssentials Question

2003-06-10 Thread Trevor Porter
Hello All:

I've recently installed the trial of GFI MailEssentials Anti-spam software and am
ready to uninstall it from one of my folders. I've read that it leaves keys behind
that have to be removed by metaedit. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks,
Trevor

RE: Moving ES 2K to a New Domain / Organization / Site / etc.

2003-03-11 Thread Trevor Porter
Hi,

I've checked into the NetIQ solution and they have responded

We cannot do and we do not support an exchange 2000 to exchange 2000
migration. This functionality has been requested however there is no
guarantees that this functionality will make it into future releases of
the product.

Any other suggestions for moving an exchange 2k server to a new domain /
org / etc? Exmerge?

Thanks,
Trevor

Backup exec won't work for this task.. A solution like exmerge, wrapped
in a
bunch of other processes or perhaps a tool like Exchange Migrator from
NetIQ
would be required.

I've read that I need the same organization and site name? Or should
I
use something like EXMERGE? I've been testing with Backup Exec but
all
I get is Access Denied errors even though the stores are unmounted and
I

Allowing a User to Open Another User's Mailbox ...

2003-03-05 Thread Trevor Porter
How do I allow user1 to open user2's mailbox through Outlook 2k profiles
when logged in as user1? (i.e. I don't just want to open the inbox or
other folder, but the whole mailbox using Outlook profiles). I'm using
ES2k.

Giving user1 Full Mailbox Access doesn't seem to do it.

Is this how you are doing it:

Go to Active Directory under user2's account and go to Exchange
Advanced. Go into the Mailbox Rights and add user1 and click the Full
Mailbox Access box and click apply.

This should work.

Delay in Messages Showing up in Inbox

2003-02-20 Thread Trevor Porter
I'm using ES2k with Outlook2k clients. My messages are beginning to
show up in batches as opposed to all at once (eg. I won't have any new
messages until I click on an alternative folder or open an existing
message and then I'll have 4 new messages which actually arrived various
times since I last checked). I've had the system up and running for a
couple of years with no problems and this started happening last week.
There's plenty of space on the server and the load looks ok.

Thanks,
Trevor

Question: ES2k on a DC

2003-02-13 Thread Trevor Porter
Hello All,

Two questions in one ...

I know that MS discourages the use of ES2k on a domain controller. Why
is this? Load? Security? Other? Are there any good articles on this?
Also, does anyone have any comments on the below config:

I have (and will have) well under 100 mailboxes and am planning on using
a Proliant DL380 G3 with 2x2.4 Xeons, 1 GB RAM and two RAID1 36 10k
drives for the OS and the logs and three RAID5 36 10k drives for the
information stores.

Thanks,
Trevor
