RE: Automatically printing eMAILs
I do for a law firm. They have mail printed that is sent to internet rcpts and received from the internet. I used a mail relay to duplicate the message to an internal mailbox and have a dedicated PC with a printer print any message that had certain words in the message header, i.e. ' received: ' You have to watch out for the attachments. Outlook 2k2 blocks .exe's and the like so this helped. They pledged to plant a tree a month ! -Original Message- From: Mitchell Mike [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 04 February 2002 19:28 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Automatically printing eMAILs Outlook 98 Exchange 5.5 SP4 Does anyone automatically print out eMAILS from a mailbox? RE: Automatically printing eMAILs
The thing that I always found amazing was that as secretaries became office administrators and clerks became accountants (in their minds), if you called them by their earlier titles they took offense. The thing that was given in lieu of money was treated as though its value was real. I would have thought that higher paid clerks and secretaries would have had more status than lower paid accountants (!) and secretaries, but apparently not. -Original Message- From: Andy David [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2002 10:57 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Automatically printing eMAILs Some of us arent as old as you and don't remember that. -Original Message- From: Darcy Adams [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2002 1:53 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Automatically printing eMAILs Which is especially silly if you happen to know that most secretaries were male until sometime this century. -Original Message- From: Blunt, James H (Jim) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2002 8:27 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Automatically printing eMAILs That, and the fact that there are a lot more males in the Personal Assistant field than there used to be and they took offense at being called a secretary...even though that's really what they are. -Original Message- From: Ed Crowley [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2002 8:22 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Automatically printing eMAILs Well, the term secretary wasn't retired so much because it wasn't PC as that executives wanted to elevate the self-esteem of the secretaries without raising their pay. RE: Automatically printing eMAILs
How about just creating a rule that prints the messages in Outlook? Not sure if Outlook 98 has that rule available, but in Outlook 2000 you can do it. It is a workstation side rule so you have to have Outlook running in order for the printouts to work. RE: Automatically printing eMAILs
I have a 75-year-old director who does essentially that - he looks at them on screen long enough to determine if they're spam or not and then prints the ones he wants. He's a terrific lawyer, and semi-retired, but he is to technology what Raymond Burr is to the pole vault so we've opted to let him continue printing his 4 useful e-mails a day, rather than confuse him with subfolders and such. He does it manually though. Outlook 2002 (and I think 2000) has a Rules Wizard option that will do it; but as somebody else observed I'm sure it's client-side. You might check CDOLive on the off-chance that Sigfried has some script that will do something like that. Aloha, -Ben- Ben M.
