David, I have installed the ESM on XP. You must first install the Win2K administration tools. Just ignore the error that states they can't be installed. A well documented aspect of XP is that you cannot install the AD add-ins from Windows 2000 as they do not work. Therefore, you need the .NET server admin pack to get it to work. A good work-around is using terminal services to a box with the AD and ESM management tools installed if you want to manage your mailboxes. Does it work if you install in the order indicated below, instead of the other way round? TS is probably a better bet anyway.
