I think that anybody who has to administer ANY e-mail system requires some
leniency to do their job. If I'm called to sort a problem involving a user's
e-mail (not necessarily Exchange, but any e-mail server or client) and that
involves checking that users e-mail to fix it then I'll check that
It would make my life as an Exchange Admin a bit easier
if we could just wipe all emails more than a year old
and then blame the Data Protection Act :-)

Does that defence work if the company is sued and they try and spread the
blame to you?
