Since Exim doesn't talk XMPP, I'm not seeing why the link to xmpp.org in #2
is relevant. Please expand on that.
The cyrus library is extremely hard to work with. I don't see anything
happening
via that vehicle.

cyrus-sasl on Debian 10 does not even support SCRAM-SHA-1, on a quick test
of sasl-sample-client/server:

It's not only doing the programming, it's having the independent
