I'm curious though whether the folk who report not having had any
problems did that long ago themselves, or if there is some other
mechanism that could sidestep the problem.

technique. I also use greylist delays,
although those delays can be very annoying in some cases, so I wouldn't
recommend it unless your spam problem is REALLY bad.
