I posted this a few days ago and got no response, so I thought I would try
one more time.
On my MDK 8.1 firewall box, when I do iptables -L, I notice an allowed
client for all services
(including ssh) that I did not add and do not recognize:
root:/root iptables -L | grep pvelm
CLIENT udp
Go to a search engine (my favorite is Google) and look for linux firewall.
You will get a good number of hits. This one looks good:
http://www.linux-firewall-tools.com/linux/
Since you are using 8.1 (the 2.4 kernel), you also need to search for linux
iptables. Iptables replaces the Ipchains
I have an AMD K6 machine that I've been using as a home firewall. It has 2
Netgear FA311 NICs. It had been running fine with Mandrake 7.2 for several
months, but I recently upgraded to 8.1 and now it hangs when I try to do a
shutdown or reboot. When shutting down, the last lines I see are:
0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 139271 May 11 09:44 /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62.0.0
Help with either problem would be appreciated.
