cp -dpr should be able to copy all the 8.2 / off to somewhere else, then just make a new partion mke2fs -j -c /dev/hdb1 -c checks for bad blocks (best to be safe) then copy the files back from where ever you backed them up to boot in as single user mode in 7.2 is best JG Daniel Anderson

Hi, I have a major problem. I have MDK 8.2 on hdb1 ext3. Previously had 8.1 on hda2, installed 7.2 in its place ext2, mounted hdb1 as ext2 to retrieve some files, had a problem with 7.2 requiring a hard restart, and fsck checked and screwed the ext3 partition so that it won't mount when
