van Gogh volunteered as an evangelical preacher in 1878 among poor coal miners 
in Belgium; but lost his faith in evangelical Christianity when there was a 
mine accident killing 57 people.  Vincent used his meager monthly salary to 
feed the starving children but ran out of money.  He became ill and feverish, 
after which some members of the Evangelization Committee found him in an 
inspection tour. He was considered totally mad and they fired him on the spot.  
 [as described in the van Gogh bio in "The Only Way to Learn About Tomorrow, 
volume 4, "Progressions, Directions, LSolar and Lunar Returns, Transits", by 
Marion D. March and Joan McEvers.  ACS Publications, 2010.  This is a standard 
text in Western Astrology.]
 .   A brief search of the internet bios turned up a few cites run by 
apologists for Evangelical Christianity which downplay the disillusionment 
angle and say basically that van Gogh's little known flirtation with 
Christianity is simply evidence of his faith in Christ. I'd say he couldn't 
reconcile the suffering he saw with the Evangelical message of Christianity.

They're a bloody mess. . The bulls were constantly worn down by *picking*, 
causing constant pain.
Once you see the bull coughing up blood, the whole thing doesn't look so 
*artistic*.The Portuguese bull fights lack the *grace* because the animals 
blood is not drained from their bodies, causing them to slow down and movements 
becoming more steady and more predictable.

I saw a bullfight in Ensenada, Mexico for the first time.  The spectacle was 
exciting if you've never seen this event before.  But after seeing one or two 
bulls die, you'd get tired of the carnage.

Portugal has bull fights but the bull is not killed. They also incorporate 
horses as part of "the dance". Interestingly, many foreign tourists prefer the 
non-lethal version of bull fighting. I think it is an interesting sport and 
even dance form. The matador's garb, the tradition is amazing but I am not a 
fan of the torture and killing of the bull. It is bad enough that they are 
first run through the streets and then brought out in front of a large audience

teasing and exhausting of the animal before finally plunging the sword into

 From the clip, it appears that the matador did not expect the bull to charge 
its horns to the left.  He got hit on the leg and the bull finished him on the 
ground.

 I saw a bullfight in Ensenada, Mexico for the first time.  The spectacle was 
exciting if you've never seen this event before.  But after seeing one or two 
bulls die, you'd get tired of the carnage.

 Portugal has bull fights but the bull is not killed. They also incorporate 
horses as part of "the dance". Interestingly, many foreign tourists prefer the 
non-lethal version of bull fighting. I think it is an interesting sport and 
even dance form. The matador's garb, the tradition is amazing but I am not a 
fan of the torture and killing of the bull. It is bad enough that they are 
first run through the streets and then brought out in front of a large audience 
in an environment that would be terrifying and strange. Add to that the slow 
teasing and exhausting of the animal before finally plunging the sword into 
what you hope is the heart so it finally, dies a quick death. You can easily 
demonstrate the choreography of bullfighting without the teasing and death as 
the finale. Needless to say, I am not weeping copiously over the death of this 
matador although a couple of good gorings would have sufficed. There was a 
story a while ago about a matador who was fighting a bull and suddenly sat down 
and wept for what he was doing. I don't know if this was some urban legend made 
up by those who love to post this drivel to FB but it was very moving as he, 
apparently, mourned the bulls and never fought again.

refugee flow was used in part to “smuggle terrorists” on to the continent, RT 
reports. 
 
 Speaking to supporters of her Christian Democrat Union party in eastern 
Germany, Merkel admitted that militant groups had smuggled jihadists among 
those genuinely looking to seek asylum in Europe.

 Portugal has bull fights but the bull is not killed. They also incorporate 
horses as part of "the dance". Interestingly, many foreign tourists prefer the 
non-lethal version of bull fighting. I think it is an interesting sport and 
even dance form. The matador's garb, the tradition is amazing but I am not a 
fan of the torture and killing of the bull. It is bad enough that they are 
first run through the streets and then brought out in front of a large audience 
in an environment that would be terrifying and strange. Add to that the slow 
teasing and exhausting of the animal before finally plunging the sword into 
what you hope is the heart so it finally, dies a quick death. You can easily 
demonstrate the choreography of bullfighting without the teasing and death as 
the finale. Needless to say, I am not weeping copiously over the death of this 
matador although a couple of good gorings would have sufficed. There was a 
story a while ago about a matador who was fighting a bull and suddenly sat down 
and wept for what he was doing. I don't know if this was some urban legend made 
up by those who love to post this drivel to FB but it was very moving as he, 
apparently, mourned the bulls and never fought again.
