 Yours was on this thread was really a wonderful post in observation about what 
the ‘order’ of the org may be in Fairfield.  
 

 Different from the meditating community in Fairfield the ™ movement is a 
series of institutions that are corporations with sub-cultures. The University, 
the Maharishi School, Maharishi Foundation, the DLFoundation, Mother Divine, 
the Pundits, Purusha, The Global Country, with boards of trustees that do seem 
allergic to consensus process or transparency looking anything like democracy. 
 Any meaningful progress ( ..The movement’s new policy on mental health, moving 
Bevan out of the Presidency, stopping the ‘meditation monitoring’ of the 
IAAssembly meditation) has been brought about by a good will in the meditating 
community in ad hoc processes extraterritorial to the colonial structure of 
what evidently is the corporate-colonial ™ movement. 

 These particular Community Forum meetings in this thread started off ‘ad hoc’ 
by interested folks of the meditating community and seem now segwayed to being 
steered (co-opted) by the religious of ™. There is still a ‘process’ in it 
wringing out what has been done with these community forums. ..Process now to 
be determined in some processes like you are reflecting on. Actually your post 
on this is very helpful. 

 When Maharishi was alive (10 years ago) TM was a theocratic guru autocracy. He 
very methodically put it all in to corporations at the end of his life with a 
narrow group in trustee ownership. There is a corporate flow chart posted in

 Our top ownership of ™ is a very small group that mostly does not live in 
Fairfield, Iowa. Fairfield,Iowa meditators and even Fairfield Rajas have very 
little policy say in how it goes with Super Radiance or the Dome Numbers in 
Fairfield. Being a meditator in TM is very colonial in relationship to the 
ownership of ™. 
 This is being wrangled around in cultural process now. The ad hoc processes 
have been very much like ‘committees of safety’ formed in earlier colonial 
times. There has yet to be a ‘Continental Congress’ of meditators formed.  I 
would see the tory colonialists of TM having a thumb on how that will go. They 
have the institutions, the meditator practitioners do not. The most that 
meditators have is their confirmation in attending or not. The metrics do tell 
a story.

 I hope you will come to visit Fairfield, stay and meditate for a while. A lot 
of people are gone right now to warmer places and India. The population here 
noticeably increases by March, April and May with Spring’s return

 . Most of us Transcendental Meditationists carry on here and make Fairfield 
our year-around home and spiritual community.

Thanks. This and prior post on ILC are helpful. They confirm my sense of ILC. 
It may be good for at some later point for a retreat period. However, for now, 
I want to get to know the community and explore FF. Living in town works better 
for me for that.  

 For housing rentals, I have been looking at Craigslist/SE Iowa and 
HomeShareFairfield, the Facebook  group. Does anyone have other good sources of 
rental listing?
  
 Anyone know of  good sites or blogs for information pertinent to relocating to 
FF. Sites like

 are useful but general. 
 

 I have looked for, but not found, any feet-on-the-ground type of guide, with 
the knowledge locals all know and very relevant to newcomers -- the nitty 
gritty of functioning in a new location.  I have been plugging away, finding 
bits and pieces here and there. I may compile such on a blog or site for other 
potential newcomers.  It could speed up the process of figuring out if FF is a 
viable option for them -- and ease their transition if they decide to take the 
plunge.

At the meditating Quaker Meeting in Fairfield this morning I spoke with someone 
else who lived out there at the ILA campus for two months last year. This 
person found it remote and isolating to the warmth that is in town or by 
comparison to living in the neighborhood community of Utopia Park next to 
campus.  ..“ILA is remote like being with a month long rounding course”. It 
works for some. This person felt the small group programs out there were okay 
with some few people but that the large group meditations of the Domes are much 
better for meditating. Some advice made also was that once you are here you 
will find lots of places to rent around the community. There is a lot available 
to rent depending on what you like.

 Back in 2015 they began converting the dormitory accommodations that were for 
the pundit program in to nice modern accomodation to live in. There was 
originally a built campus infrastructure to house upwards of 1,500 or 2,000 
pundits. There are over a hundred structures out there complete with streets, 
sewers, utilities and such.

 Back in the summer of 2006 when the IAAssembly was conceived as a reaction to 
outbreak of civil war in Lebanon that was looking like it was going in to a 
world war and also then Vlodrop realizing that the Fairfield Dome meditation 
numbers and the TM meditation movement in America had attrited so badly that 
they both were disappeared essentially.  
 The IAAssembly was conceived to regenerate the Dome group meditation and the 
American TM teaching movement was re-initiated by putting Dr. Hagelin in charge 
of figuring out the teaching of TM in North America..

 A call went out to old meditators of the worldwide movement and people from 
around the globe came to Fairfield to populate the Dome meditation then in 
2006. The daily meditation programs morning and evening were large again. A lot 
of Canadians and people otherwise from the UK, Europeans and others from the 
world came.  After some short few years a number of those people had to return 
home to their lives and the Dome numbers sagged back down.
 

 Then in a sequence the hiring in of pundits from India (outsourcing) was 
initiated as a way to bolster numbers meditating in Fairfield. Providing 
stipends to westerners also was conceived as a way to support meditators who 
could stay meditating in the Domes. These approaches all took a lot of 
altruistic capital to do. Now within the last down turn of the economy and with 
those earlier heady times of largess dried up the pundit and also the grant ($) 
program paying people to meditate in the Domes on the IAAssembly have shrunk to 
shells of what they were.

 The practical need now is for good low overhead accommodation for people to be 
meditating in Fairfield. They have this infrastructure out there so in larger 
thinking in the direction of facilitating numbers meditating in Fairfield they 
have been taking the dorm-like accommodations of the pundit campus and 
investing in re-making the physical plant there in to nice housing. 

 In beginning this with what was experiment in conversion of the units the 
project has accelerated this last year. This is a large capital project. 
 At this annual Jan 12 Dome community meeting one of the visions of a sankalpa 
was laid out for having nice affordable housing to meet needs of housing for 
the IAA, retirements of elders in the full time movement organizations, retreat 
facility for new meditators, expansion for University housing and the 
meditating community.

 The Fairfield area with its meditating communities can make a great place to 
live. The ILCampus is a smaller part of it.  At this point there are still a 
hand full of pundits (15 additional to arrive

 This is wonderful stuff.  
 

 (I ask constructively and with optimistic interest and intent), how much 
progress is being made on these themes and initiatives? I appreciate that 
people may enthusiastically brainstorm good ideas at a meeting. How much is 
being systematically thought through, researched, plans being developed, 
communicated and reviewed by the community?   For exmple, is there a project 
plan being developed with the same scope and detail as a business plan for 
which one is seeking funding. 
 

 I sense that they are still in the idea realm.  For example, I don't see any 
websites, blogs, discussion boards articulating and refining these visions. 
Maybe too soon for such. 

 

 Are the TMO, university, town governent, community  working together on these 
initiatives? Or is it more a sense of "ho hum, a new grand initiative that will 
fade as have many others?'  
 

 I do think there is a lot of potential in many of these ideas that may appeal 
to some significant demographics, mindsets and valuesets.

 Russell Targ is a physicist who spent several decades working in a US 
government program exploring "remote viewing" - an apparent anomalous extended 
characteristic of the mind. Targ is convinced the effect is real. This talk was 
originally slated as part of a TEDx event in Hollywood in 2013, but the 
organization pulled their support of the event when they learned about the
