[FairfieldLife] Attendance in Recert Course

How many people are attending the current course to become a
recertified governor?

[FairfieldLife] Re: Attendance in Recert Course

Hello Willtex,

There are many Governors in this group (And some are even in good
standing!)--although I expect that few or none are recertified.

Your information is incorrect.

Apparently there are no respondents on this forum who are planning on
attending the current course to become recertified Governors. In fact,
there seems to be no Governors on this forum - correct me if I'm
wrong.

The last Governor I read on the Internet was Billy Murphy - at least
of those Governors still in good standing with the Maharishi. However,
I'm considering getting recertified to practice the TM program. From
what I've heard, this new program will be announced soon by Maharishi.
And, I'm also considering attending at least one CCP this year.

[FairfieldLife] TMO course acceptance made easy

2006-12-22 Thread bmorry2000
Anyone can be accepted onto any TMO course if you tell them what they
want to hear. As MMY always said, Speak the sweet truth.

As a Governor, I have been accepted to Mother Divine, CCP, WPAs, and
every course I wanted to attend using this technique. The last
application I completed did not even ask me if I was a teacher of other
techniques (yes, I am), had seen a psychiatrist (yes), had seen saints
(as many as possible when they travel near my location), consulted non-
TMO Ayurvedic practitioners (of course--they are so much cheaper).

If you want to be in the dome, get with this program--it has worked for
me and many others for years.

The TMO does not care about you personally; they are all about image!

[FairfieldLife] Upcoming Recert TM Teacher Course

How many will be attending this time? Did anyone even apply? Will the

What is disrupted is Milieu Control. I'm sure everyone here is

Nice link. I've seen lists of 20 or so cult charcteristics, but
this one is both precise and
 comprehensive.

Since so many quality people have bailed on letting them work
their
mojo, it seems like they are just acting out of habit. The
movement
seems to lack the ability to create a new organization that
respects
mature individuals with enough spiritual and life experience to
decide
things for themselves. It worked better when everyone was in their
20's and less self-assured. From the outside it is fascinating
to see
them try to cast the same old spells their a broken wands.

Yes, numerous people here have noted the contradiction inherent in
treating aging, long-
term devotees as children and neophytes. Of course, there actually
are a small number
who still prefer it that way.

I wonder if Lifton has studied the oppositional reflex that must
exist
even in devoted members, who are still close to the
organization. It
seems as if the innocence is so long gone that the movement's
words
would have a completely different effect by this time.

When I talk with people who still do the program about the
movement,
there is so much eye-rolling that it makes me wonder who is more
turned off to the teaching. My guess is that although FFL is a
small group who are willing to speak up, the eclectic lifestyle
and
practices represented here is more reflective of the majority of
people still involved with TM than the old-school hardline. I
meet
people who keep their feelings and practices to themselves for
fear of
being cut out of courses. I would love to know the numbers on
both
  these sides.

The hard core are definitely a minority here, although there are
severe methodological and
sociological barriers to establishing the numbers.

Even the more hip and liberated TMers often have localized hot
buttons around certain
topics, like M's infallibility or Sthapathya Ved, etc. As a result,
FF can be a conversational
 mine field.

If people just respected the directive to keep meditation instruction
private, then everyone could be accepted into the dome. It really is a

People who get the TM inquisition have brought it on themselves by not

It's a simple, natural process--just keep the information to yourself!

As many have heard, I have been asked to cease and desist teaching TM
by the TMO attorneys in Iowa. Their demands include that I destroy
all teaching materials and that I no longer use their registered
service marks for TM and Transcendental Meditation. With the new
project for teachers to re-certify and teach, teachers who, like me,
were made teachers for life by Maharishi, were all told we must no
longer consider ourselves teachers. The re-certification course as
you may have heard was $2K and $4 depending on how many people you
have taught in the past 2 years for $2500 each student. Once
completed, re-certified teachers were required to teach full time,
meditate 7 hours per day, open up 5 spas, raise 1.5 million for a
peace palace, go to Holland for a month and become a raja after which
you would be required to wear robes and a crown and have others bow
to you. Teachers were required to teach according to gender, males
teach males, women teach women and all in a building with an east
entrance (TMO websites detail the entire thing). Teachers were
promised salaries of $2000 per month if nobody takes TM and $4000 a
month if you teach 2. Three months after it's start all salaries
were discontinued and teachers who quit their jobs had to find work
once again. ++see Chandler letter below

It's nonsense. Teachers like myself have not done anything wrong.
Most on my list know I have continued to provide basic and advanced
instruction and have maintained the traditional teaching. Every
teacher knows what it's like to try and make a living teaching. I
will never charge anyone $2500 - never! I would need cold water
running through my veins! It's wrong and people don't deserve it.
It makes perfect sense to me having taught over 4000 people, that
teachers should be able to keep all the money for instruction
encouraging students to then take TMO sponsored follow-ups like the
TM- Sidhis and advanced techniques. This way everyone wins.
Teachers need to make a living. When did the policymakers forget
that? The fees today are 6 times what they were in 1993.

I have invested a small fortune to keep teaching in the area since
1989. My Bell South bill is $150 per month. Recently my Bell South
rep called to say he received a call from Joan Rothenberg who accused
me of violating the TM trademark, that I was not legally allowed to
do so and that she and her husband Stuart were the new teachers in
Boca Raton. This quote appeared in my January 06 newsletter:

Still the Same
Maharishi has done something that his predecessors did not do. He
provided a technique and a knowledge program while maintaining the
ancient traditions. With all the research available, TM is still the
best technique for relieving stress and developing inner potential.
The packaging and marketing changes over time but the essential
message remains the same: meditate and enjoy.

When Coca Cola introduced New Coke, the public was split on what they
preferred, new or old Coke. Old Coke was introduced as Classic Coke
and remains the same today. Transcendental Meditation can be offered
to the general population or the wealthy, no harm. But the essential
teaching is here to stay. Keeping this teaching alive worldwide is
the goal of all the teachers. Competition is good and if it leads to
more people learning, no harm.

As stated previously, our office teaches TM at reasonable rates.
It's available for everyone. Please keep us in mind and know that we
are here to stay. We hope you can join us for programs that enrich
and refresh, inspire and expand. Take advantage of your membership
and keep the teaching alive by meditating twice a day and radiating
the benefits in your life.
Mike Scozzari

If Stuart Rothenberg and his wife want to teach TM, there is no
reason to push the existing teachers aside. If the truth be told, I
would ask Stuart why he moved from North Carolina to Lancaster, MA
and fired the staff at the ayurvedic health center as well as ask
Jay Glasser, MD to leave after years of medical service there. It's
unfortunate. The directors called me to tell their story.

The claims against me re trademark infringement are just the opinions
of the TMO and their attorney. I can email you the attachments. No
court order has been issued yet. IF AND WHEN I GET THE COURT ORDER, I
will need to show the court the true details of my claim which will
only cause the TMO to look foolish as each attorney has agreed with
me. I have the support of certain media as well including a publicist
with the San Francisco Examiner who would like to really go wide on
this entire issue. She agreed nothing printed unless I say so. The
TMO hates negative publicity. I think

 Meditation movement lacks proper credentials
 Editorial
 By Emerald editorial board
 November 10, 2005
A sold-out crowd packed into 150 Columbia Tuesday night to hear
famous
filmmaker David Lynch speak. Perhaps they came to learn about the
meaning of his
dark films, but Lynch primarily used his time to promote the
controversial
 practice of Transcendental Meditation.
A practitioner of TM for 32 years, Lynch wants to raise billions of
dollars
to teach it to any child in America who wants to learn it. Like
many TM
proponents, Lynch, accompanied by two “experts,” described TM
as a way to usher in
world peace and achieve greater personal effectiveness. Lynch and
his comrades
couched the practice in scientific terms.
But they didn’t give the audience the whole story.
Now famous as the Beatles’ one-time guru, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
founded TM in
India in 1958 as the outgrowth of a Hindu spiritual movement. Since
then,
more than 6 million people have learned TM, according to the
organization’s Web
site. Learning the technique costs $2,500.
At first, TM practitioners meditate for about 20 minutes twice
daily with
their eyes closed, repeating a syllabic phrase or “mantra” to
reach “pure
awareness” and rid themselves of conscious thought.
We don’t dispute the fact that meditation in general can be
calming and
beneficial. Yet we raise questions consumers should seriously
consider before
purchasing this commodity as a means to attain peace.
First, we question the high cost. During his speech, Lynch said
people who
really want peace will find the money to pay for TM classes. Some
advocates say
the cost ensures the TM movement will persevere and grow, and that
the price
wouldn’t seem outrageous if we lived in a culture that values
meditation. Yet
people can learn many types of meditation for free from books and
classes.
Proponents claim the TM mantras are more effective than repeating
secular sounds,
but some books on meditation say otherwise.
We also question the scientific merits of TM. Advocates claim a
multitude of
scientific studies validate the physiological benefits of TM. Many
of these
studies, however, are conducted at the organization’s own
Maharishi University
of Management and they are not necessarily published in peer-
reviewed journals.
Any scholars thinking about trying TM should check out these
scientific
claims, especially those that suggest TM is different from other
forms of
meditation. We also cannot find any credible evidence to support
the claim that TM
creates peace by “radiating an influence of harmony to your
surroundings.” In
light of the recent heated debate over the scientific merit of
Intelligent
Design, TM should come under equally rigorous investigation.
People with certain religious beliefs should also investigate the
religious
roots of TM. Although advocates claim it is simply a “mental
technique” and
not a religion or philosophy, historical facts clearly show TM is
rooted in
Hinduism; the mantras people repeat during TM are the names of
Hindu gods.
Moreover, the movement lost a 1979 suit after the New Jersey
Supreme Court ruled TM
was based on religious concepts and shouldn’t be taught in
schools. TM has been
presented in a secular package to appeal to Westerners.
Millions of people like Lynch have found TM to be a satisfying and
worthwhile
purchase, as demonstrated by their longtime commitments to the
practice.
However, we hope listeners at Lynch’s recent speech take the
initiative to
investigate the statements made by this salesman of pseudo-science
and evaluate
whether they belong in an academic setting like this University. We
think they don’
 t.

Do some research on partial birth abortion.

This will help you to decide what a baby looks likein case you
are not sure.

P.S. In response to others: naturally ejaculated sperm,
menstruation (where an unfertilize egg is discarded), and
spontaneous miscarriage are not violently induced--like legal
abortion. Again, refer to the literature on partial birth abortion.

What defines a child? When it can sustain life on its own? When

What
about the twinkle in a prospective father's eye? Is that the

you want the state to mandate your personal vision of conception

(Btw, should women with miscarriages be tried for manslaughter?)

would simply give the states the right to decide the issue. Which in
pondering it, is more consistent with the view that law making
should
be at the most local level possible and the federal governement
should
be restricted to the explicit roles and powers it was designated in
 the constitution.

In todays age, I speculate that no states, or at most only several
states would disallow all abortions, even for rape and inceest. Up
to
10 might dissallow it for all but the above and if the life of the
mother were in danger. The rest would keep things as they are. And
in
some states, abortion might be more liberally allowed.

And such non-abortion states would be boycotted by many groups,
curtailing their conventions, travel and home manufacturing
businesses. Over time, anti-abortion laws in the handful of states
having them might liberalize under such pressure.

With the advent of day after and later stage abortion pills
available
by mail order, and the ease of transportation to adjacent states,
would overturning Roe v. Wade actually decrease choice by much?

course. Not sure what they're charging for the TM-Sidhis
these days--several thousand at least--but nowhere near
 $30,000.

I would be interested in knowing about the practice
itself.everything I google just talks about
The effort towards world peace and stuff.

Even if the practice weren't a private teaching that
is supposed to be kept private, it would be really
difficult to describe it in a way that would both do
justice to it and satisfy curiosity--just as with
 plain-vanilla TM, only more so.

Essentially, it's a matter of entertaining in a
 particular manner various intentions, as
formulated by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras, at
the most subtle level of awareness.

Quoting from Keith Wallace's book The Physiology
 of Consciousness:

Maharishi emphasizes that successful performance of
the TM-Sidhi program...can occur only at the junction
point between the active mind and silent pure
consciousess. He explains that, at the point where
the awareness has become so subtle as to merge with
the unboundedness of pure consciousness, the term
'thinking process' takes an entirely new form--it
becomes one with the self-interacting dynamics of
 pure consciousness: 'One's own transcendental
consciousness, functioning within itself during the
TM-Sidhi Program, is the unified field functioning
within itself Here, the mind is stationed at
the level from where the performance of sanyam [the
mental technique with which the intention is
entertained] can elicit the total organizing power
of the unified field to promote the desired effect
 [i.e., the specific siddhi].

 Does that help any??

The peer pressure to not quit was intense.

I was thinking of participating in a sweat lodge put on by
a Wampanoag Indian acquaintance who holds them in

me participants stay in the lodge for an hour, I remembered
 Steven and said no thanks.

Dr. Bieler (of Bieler's Broth fame) said it only takes five minutes
of profuse sweating to flush whatever toxins can be flushed
in that manner. Any more sweating merely contributes to
dehydration. And what does one breathe after 20 minutes
in a sweat lodge? Surely the oxygen is gone.

Steven's widow told an interesting story I still recall hearing
second hand. Steven apparently had an affinity for owls. I
guess you'd say they were his totem animal. Upon leaving
the hospital, his wife encountered an owl standing by the
walkway. This was in broad daylight on the campus of the
busy University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Yet the owl
just stood there, impassively, looking at her, like an omen.
 Like a goodbye.

I remember signing something but I never got a copy...so, was
it legal as a binding contract if I never got a copy?

[FairfieldLife] Attention Ladies: Become Raja-like

2005-04-24 Thread bmorry2000

A friend forwarded this message to me--only $1,000,.00, same
price as for the men. Now that's equal opportunity...

Announcement of a Special Training Conference for Ladies
taught by Maharishi

A course for ladies parallel to Raja Training, with the same highest
goal:
To engage Total Natural Law for effortless fulfillment of desires

Please express your interest by April 28.

Dear Governors and Sidhas,

Maharishi announced today a special training conference for ladies
(single or married), which has the same goal for development of
higher consciousness as Raja Training. Its objective is to enliven
the ability to spontaneously engage the total intelligence of Natural
Law, the Constitution of the Universe, to fulfill one's
intentions; to harness in one's awareness the omnipresent,
omniscient, omnipotent creative intelligence for perfection in human
life.

As experienced by the Rajas and their families, there is no more
powerful course of knowledge and experience than this. It sets the
individual on an unerring path to Unity Consciousness, from which she
radiates the nourishing, peaceful power of Natural Law to bless her
family, community, and nation. The influence of her consciousness
alone raises life increasingly into harmony with Natural Law, the
Will of God.

The training conference is open to lady Governors. Sidhas who are
experiencing Yogic Flying will also be considered.

The training is 3 to 4 months in length. The conference is available
to those making a donation of $1 million; or if there is some
financial strain, $500,000 could be donated now, and the remainder
donated at some later time.

Whether this conference will be held depends on the number of ladies
who apply. Please inform us within the next 6 days of your interest
and ability to attend. We do not know when this opportunity will be
available again.

ACTION STEP—PLEASE RESPOND BY APRIL 28

Please express your interest in Maharishi's training conference
for ladies by April 28, and include all the following information:
Your name, age, address (including country), phone number, email
address, whether you are a Governor or Sidha, whether you can make
the requested donation, and whether you are able to attend the
conference immediately or within a few weeks. Please email this
information to [EMAIL PROTECTED].

[FairfieldLife] TTC Recert Agreement Question

Does anyone know the details of the agreement form people had to sign

oversee their businesses and investments!

[FairfieldLife] Recert course fee / Salary question

2005-04-09 Thread bmorry2000

The room and board charge ($60 per day)was announced before the
course started; perhaps not all the participants received the
email

Before the course started, I heard from a very good source that the
salary would only be paid for a few months before each mall center
would be expected to be self sufficient.

Is it true that the salary has been completely cancelled? Can
someone else confirm this?

If that's true, then I guess I won't be going to the next recert
course because my criteria for participating was If the movement
keeps their side of this deal, I will keep mine. So, it looks like
I will be saving $5,800 and losing my governor status

Maybe, I will take Shri Shri's teacher training instead--I hear that
his basic course fee is still quite affordable.

[FairfieldLife] Re: update: 550 have said yes to teach TM

2005-03-29 Thread bmorry2000

I'm in; I will keep up 100% of my committment as long as the
movement keeps up their end of the bargain!

Hopefully, the other 549 have the same practical attitude and will
not continue when the monthly salary stops--as it inevitably will.

I sincerely hope that the others do not intend to jeopardize their
financial futures for the movement as many have done in the past.
Most governors are not in their twenties and thirties; they deserve
(and some need) to have some relative financial security as well as
the promise of absolute security.

Otherwise, the plan sounds amazing; if we can pull it off, the world
will be a better place.
