[FairfieldLife] Bill Maher

2016-10-29 Thread awoelfleba...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
Perfect. I love this guy.

So, during Friday’s edition of HBO’s Real Time, host Bill Maher
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2016/07/14/bill-maher-uncut-roger-ailes-absolutely-looks-like-a-pig-to-me.html
gave his unique take on the latest development in Hillary’s Emailgate.

“I think it is rather appropriate that this election is so close to Halloween,
because what happens in every scary movie? You think you killed the monster—you
killed him ten times—and then a tiny, orange hand comes out of the grave.
Believe me: for Hillary, tonight was Nightmare on Email Street,” he quipped
during his monologue.

Maher then gave some background on how the hell Anthony Weiner (alias: Carlos
Danger), a frequent panelist on his Real Time program, could be playing such a
consequential role in this election.

“Anthony Weiner is under investigation for sexting with a underage girl across
state lines, so the FBI seized all his computers. He is married—or was
married—to Huma Abedin, who is Hillary Clinton’s aide, and they were using the
same computer,” said Maher. “Which begs my first question: Why is Huma using
Anthony’s computer? If there’s one thing she didn’t want to go near, it would
be his computer. So… Hillary’s emails are intermingled with Anthony Weiner’s
sexting? No wonder she had her server wiped! I’d have had it boiled.”

He continued: “This is the world we live in now: Hillary Clinton’s aide’s
estranged husband is a freak, so we get to read Hillary Clinton’s emails. I
wish Hillary would send a text to Donald Trump. Maybe then we would get to see
his taxes.”

[FairfieldLife] Bill Maher on Atheism

2012-02-04 Thread curtisdeltablues

Atheism is a religion like abstinence is a sex position.

Atheism is not only not a religion, its also not even my hobby.

And that's the best thing about being an Atheist. It requires so little of your
time.

But there is a growing trend in this country which has to get called out.

And that is to label any evidence-based thing as religion.

Many conservatives now thing that belief in man-made climate change is a
religion, and Darwinism is a religion.

And even Atheism, the total lack of religion is somehow a religion too,
according to always reliable Encyclopedia Moronica.

Now its a dodge, of course, in the grand tradition of,, 'I know you are, but
what am I?'

Its a way of saying, 'Hey, we all believe in some faith-based malarky, so lets
call it a push.

No. N-n-n-n-no.

Its not fair that people who can't defend their own nonsense get to make a fake
'fair and balanced' argument.

The way they do in asserting evolution and creationism are equally valid.

I'm not saying that Atheists are perfect thinkers. Everyone has blind spots.
I'm sure there are Atheists that think ponytails look good on a man! Pineapple
belongs on a pizza! Ayn Rand was an important thinker, but...

Well, when it comes to religion, we're not two sides of the same coin. And you
don't get to put your unreason up on the same shelf with my reason.

Your stuff has to go over there on the shelf with Zeus and Thor and the
Kracken.

With the stuff that is not evidence-based.

Stuff that religious people never change their mind about no matter what
happens.

That's not Atheism.

I'm open to anything for which there's evidence.

Show me a god, and I will believe in him.

If Jesus Christ comes down from the sky during the half-time show of this
Sunday's Super Bowl, and turns all the nachos into loaves and fishes, well,
I'll think two things.

First, 'How dare he interrupt Madonna, she is gonna be pissed!'

And two, 'Oh, look at that, I was wrong, there he is. My bad. Praise the Lord.'

But that's not gonna happen, and short of that, if you still insist Atheism is
a religion, then its only fair that we get to do all the loony stuff you get to
do.

And I'm going to start tonight by un-baptizing Mitt Romney's father-in-law.

In case you didn't hear, it was discovered last week that Edward Davies, Ann
Romney's father, an enthusiastically anti-religious scientist, who called
organized faith, 'hogwash,' was posthomously baptized in the Mormon tradition
fourteen months after he died. They tried to do it sooner, but he wouldn't stop
spinning in his grave.

So here then is history's first un-baptism ceremony right now for the late
Edward Davies.

[Dawns wizard hat and wand, and we here magical chanting]

Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of math, gravity,
evolution and electricity, to honor brother Edward, and to send the powers of
Seal Team 666 to rescue him from planet Kolob, so that he may spend eternity
with the kind of freethinkers he chose to hang out with here on Earth.

So, by the power granted to me, as supplied by the Blair Witch...

Shlemeil, shlamazal, e pluribus mumbo jumbo, expecto petronum, su-su-sudio, yo
mamma...

I call upon the Mormon spirits to leave your body the fuck alone!

Brother Edward, in this world, you had to put up with Mitt Romney, you've
suffered enough.

Also,

Maher weighed in on the David Letterman-Sarah Palin controversy, stating that
Letterman is a fundamentally decent Midwesterner and that his remarks were
twisted into a lie that [got] into the media and then [became] the truth.
Maher said it was a shame that Letterman had to apologize.

Sure, vote for McCain because Obama doesn't say exactly
the right things IYO, and McCain doesn't make you feel
dumb because he's so pathetic. Here's what you're voting for:

Phil Gramm was one of the lead architects of the breathtakingly
irresponsible policies (No more restraints! No more regulation!) that
led to the subprime mortgage meltdown and the current credit disaster.
A corporate insider in the Bush-Cheney mold, Mr. Gramm was thought to
be in line to serve as treasury secretary in a McCain administration
until July when he put his foot very publicly in his mouth. To
Senator McCain’s great embarrassment, Mr. Gramm dismissed the
economic downturn as a “mental recession” and complained that the
U.S. had become a “nation of whiners.”

That may have been a political no-no, but it was an accurate
expression of the slavish devotion of the G.O.P. to the rich and
powerful among us, and of the party’s contempt for the interests of
working families and the poor. Senator McCain, it should be noted,
fully shared Mr. Gramm’s anti-regulatory zeal.

This is an odd crowd, indeed, to be offering itself as a champion for
working people.

It's the Republicans who think you're dumb. Otherwise why would the put
up candidates that the dumbasses would identify with? You'll vote for
them and they'll steal your money as they have done the last eight years.

If you were in school and needed some help with your math assignments
would you ask someone who is a C student or someone who is an A
student? If you were looking for a good lawyer would you choose one who
barely passed the law exam or someone who not only passed the law exam
but also teaches law courses at a college? Would you choose a doctor
who barely made it through medical school only with influential help
from his dad who was also a doctor and an alumni contributor to the
college or someone who flew through medical school with flying colors
and was noted for their research?

So if you were choosing a world leader who is going to meet with other
world leaders would you choose someone who barely understands global
issues and can't think on their feet or someone who not only understands
those issues but also is able to make clear decisions and communicate
them well with other intelligent world leaders?

If you want the US to become a third world country then choose the kind
of leader who will trash it into one. I, for one, don't want that,
however it may be too late.

And also ask yourself are you better off than you were eight years ago?

When Democrats Collapse

By Bill Maher

May 25, 2007 | New Rule: Jimmy Carter must be shipped off to
Guantánamo, stripped to his tighty-whiteys and waterboarded as an
enemy combatant. Last weekend, former U.S. President and current
al-Qaida operative Jimmy Carter launched an unprovoked attack upon
democracy, America and our troops in the field by telling the Arkansas
Pennysaver that the Bush administration has been the worst in
history. And then he threatened President Bush by saying, I'm going
to get on a plane and fly out there and straighten your ass out.

As usual, we've been sucked into a phony controversy about who said
what and how it hurt George W. Bush's feelings. Because when you hurt
George W. Bush you hurt America's feelings, and when you hurt
America's feelings, you hurt the troops. And when that happens,
Tinkerbell's light goes out and she dies.

The Republican outrage machine is always invoking secret rules that
liberals didn't know they broke. And apparently when you get to be
president, they give you an employee's handbook titled So You're
Leader of the Free World -- Now What? It tells you about the nuclear
codes, where your parking space is, and to not talk smack about other
presidents. But I was up all night on Wikipedia doing an exhaustive
study of former presidents, and while other presidents have sucked in
their own individual ways, Bush is like a smorgasbord of suck. He
combines the corruption of Warren G. Harding, the abuse of power of
Richard Nixon and the warmongering of James K. Polk.

I mean, who would you rank lower than George W. Bush? Nixon got in
trouble for illegally wiretapping Democratic headquarters; Bush is
illegally wiretapping the entire country. Nixon opened up relations
with the Chinese; Bush let them poison your dog. Herbert Hoover sat on
his ass through four years of calamity, but he was an actual engineer.
If someone told him about global warming, he would have understood it
before the penguins caught on fire. Ulysses Grant was a miserable
drunk, but at least he didn't trade booze for Jesus and embolden the
snake handlers -- he did the honorable thing and stayed a miserable
drunk. Grant let his cronies loot the republic, but he won his civil war.

For some inexplicable reason Republicans have taken to comparing Bush
to Harry Truman -- a comparison that would make sense only if Harry
Truman had A) started World War II and B) lost World War II. Harding
sucked, but he once said, I am not fit for this office and never
should have been here. So at least he knew he sucked. He never walked
offstage like Bush does after one of his embarrassing press
conferences with a look on his face like, Nailed it. Bush still acts
like every failure is just a friend he hasn't met yet.

Now, is it possible for a future president to perform as badly as Bush
has? I suppose, theoretically, if we elect someone totally off the
wall, like R. Kelly, or the reanimated corpse of Ted Williams, or Rudy
Giuliani ... But let's be honest, we would have been better off over
the past six years if the Oval Office had been occupied by an
orangutan with a Magic 8-Ball. And that's why it's so depressing that
when the right-wing noise machine pretended to get upset at what Jimmy
Carter said, he did what Democrats always do and backed down. He said
his remarks were careless and misrepresented and the sun was in his
eyes and his hearing aid went out and he was molested by a clergyman.

They confronted him, and he took it all back. Which is what Democrats
do. Why couldn't he have just said, No, I meant what I said. And
speaking as the first citizen of Habitat for Humanity, let me take out
my toolbox and build you a house where we can meet and you can blow
me. If a Democrat who's out of office and 100 years old can't speak
out, what chance do we have for the ones who are in office? Like the
ones who are in Congress now who, emboldened by widespread public
approval of their plan to bring the troops home ... this week
abandoned that plan. You see, you don't get to become the worst
president ever without a little help from the other side.

[FairfieldLife] Bill Maher on Intelligent Design

2005-10-12 Thread markmeredith2002
And finally New Rule: You don't have to teach both sides of a debate,
if one side is a load of crap.

Now, President Bush recently suggested that public schools should
teach intelligent design, alongside the theory of evolution. Because,
after all, evolution is quote, just a theory. Then the President
renewed his vow to drive the terrorists straight over the edge of the
earth.

Now, here is what I don't get. President Bush is a brilliant
scientist. He's the man who proved you can mix two parts booze with
one part cocaine, and still fly a jet fighter. And yet... yet he just
can't seem to accept that we descended from apes.

It just seems pathetic to be so insecure about your biological
superiority, to a group of feces-flinging, rouge-buttocked monkeys,
that you have to make up fairy tales. Like we came from Adam and Eve,
and then cover stories for Adam and Eve like, intelligent design.
Yeah, leaving the Earth in the hands of two naked teenagers. That's a
real intelligent design.

I'm sorry, folks, but it may very well may be that life is just a
series of random events. And that there is no... master plan. But
enough about Iraq. Let me instead restate my thesis. There aren't
necessarily two sides to every issue. If there were, the Republicans
would have an opposition party.

And an opposition party would point out that even though there's a
debate, in schools, and government, about this, there is no debate
among scientists. Evolution... is supported by the entire scientific
community. Intelligent design is supported by guys online to see The
Dukes of Hazzard.

And the reason there is no real debate, is that intelligent design
isn't real science. It's the equivalent of saying that the thermos
keeps hot things hot and cold things cold, because it's a god. It's so
willfully ignorant you might as well worship the U.S. Mail. It came
again! Praise, Jesus!

No, stupidity isn't a form of knowing things. Thunder is high pressure
air meeting low pressure air. It's not God bowling. Babies come from
storks is not a competing school of thought... in medical school. We
shouldn't teach both. The media shouldn't equate both.

If Thomas Jefferson knew we were blurring the line this much between
church and state, he would turn over in his slave. Now as for me, I
believe in evolution and intelligent design. I think God designed us
in his image, but I also think God is a monkey! God bless you and
goodnight!
