Jai Maharishi Jai Guru Dev Well, you didn't really address the substance of the post, but that's OK, you may not be able to deal with. It shows what MMY was UP to; a little cut here, a little cut there, and vea, you've got yourself Yoga-lite for modernity, it's really not so bad, it's helped thousands, it's just not YOGA! per se... PS. We don't even know if MMY was enlightened.

Nabby, you are cute. You forgot to add ji after, like Maharishiji. I hope you do not think I am anti-meditating and all that stuff, because I do, do the stuff. Sometimes people see it from a different perspective, like I see the elephant from the raised trunk. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, nablusoss1008 no_reply@... wrote: --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, wgm4u wgm4u@ wrote: Have you noticed the conspicuous absence of Patanjali's 6th limb or Dharana (concentration), why is that? The Age of Enlightenment is here and now. I think I would have to take issue with the comment of his that the Age of Enlightenment is here and now, that sounds like he is merely parroting Maharishi's hyperbole. The Kingdom of Heaven is IN the here and now but very few, if any, have actually realized it...Jesus did and a few others.

I was never into the ji-thing because it indicated a distance. Even long before Maharishi dropped the body some were excercising this ji-sport. I don't know how he reacted to this, but I suspect he found it foolish.

Plenty of Indians have been referring to Maharishiji as that. In fact, that is where I have heard it for years, from the Indians. Go figure. The M Vedic experts are all foolish, because they add ji? : )

In some of the older US made movies made that took place in India (maybe Nine Hours to Rama) the Indians would say add mister after the person's name when speaking their pigeon English. So it doesn't confer anything but a title of respect like Mr. Of course in our modern times such conventions tend fall away as being too formal (sort of like putting Dear in the opening of an email).

Yes ji is a mark of respect, but Maharishi (great sage) is already such a big title that a ji at the end is redundant and sounds a little ridiculous. I would just stick ji after a person name than to titles such as Maharishi but each to his own.
