A current challenge for the TM community is that enough of its supportive
people have been defrauded of their savings and have now become ‘resource poor’
enough such that fundraising goals for budgets of what are more substantial
objectives of the community are being affected, like for the MSAE, the
University Annual Fund, Purusha, Mother Divine Programs.

In ‘nefariousness’, member behavior can taint a whole community. Apparently
when the Mormons showed up in Nauvoo, Illinois they were a huge spiritual

locals then started experiencing missing horses and stuff, and having some bad
dishonest business dealings with Mormon members. The character taint on the
larger group as a movement was that the Mormons became known as just a lot of
trouble. It got to a point where the civil authority of the State government of
Illinois could not insure Mormon safety against the feelings of the local
populace and negotiations were opened to get the Mormons out of the State as a
group and moved on further West. The rest of that is known history..

But locally there in Illinois the Mormon movement became known there as just a
bunch of bad business for the character of some of the members. That has
happened some likewise in Fairfield at times too. There are stories of a few
bad apples.
