Hi Ken, Well I agree with you on most of your points;  But the way I take Maharishi's name, is more of Shiva: or destroyer or ignorance.  I still think he chose the fork in the road to cater to the people in the movement;  Who wanted yogic powers( even John Lennon, I think was desiring these powers);  So, I think Maharishi is still the 'destroyer of ignorance';  I just think that the greater numbers, and the appeal to he had to the masses;  Was sacrificed for the teaching of these yogic powers;  Perhaps in retro-spect, he could have saved these tecniques;  For the one's who have since been the most devoted. No wonder so many 'regular' meditators gave up TM.
Not much attention was given to residence courses, and such
All the attention was given to the elite.
The powers the the most experienced.
In the meantime, many good meditators were lost,
Because of lack of attention, and sense of community;
Which had been present in the days before the 'powers'.
