Sure, MMY has said he is a monk. But, hey, it was never a big emphasis on his part. And maybe he decided at one point NOT to continue being a monk. If that's the case, isn't he allowed to give in to the temptations that the rest of us are? Are any of the 5+ women that you cite claiming that he took advantage of them, abused them in any way, or did things to them against their will? Some of them walked away with no regrets; some bitter and disillusioned. Most were old enough to make their own decisions (although we've discussed the implications of disparities in age and authority); one was only 19. That one bothers me the most. Otherwise, I agree with the points you make above. I guess MMY decided (or his 2nd chakra decided) that it made no difference whether he was celibate or not, but he considered it too difficult to alter his public image, so he did his best to be discrete. I think it would have been better if he had been public and honest about it, but it was his business, not mine. I'm open to the possibility that in MMY's case, it was no longer relevant. Rick, when you found out and became convinced about MMY's sexual exploits, how did that affect your world? I found out at a time when I was in the process of becoming distanced from the TMO, so it facilitated that. It also presented an interesting challenge, because I still acknowledge MMY's greatness as a teacher, at least in his heyday, and his powerful darshan, resulting presumably from a very high level of consciousness coupled with an ability to radiate that to others (all light bulbs are plugged into the same power grid, but some are little Christmas tree bulbs, while others are powerful search lights). So I took it as an opportunity to reexamine a lot of assumptions and concepts. I heard the rumors of this in 1970 when the John Lennon interview came out in Rolling Stone, and again throughout the years, when various skin boys told their story.
