I used metacam on my elderly cat Priss, and it helped her tremendously. She was nota positive though. We also use it for my mom's dog Otis and it has helped a lot. Janine

Bones had no bad reactions to the Metacam, and I was VERY pleased with it's
effectiveness without any of the side effects I've seen of other pain relievers
used for cats (those duragestic/Fentanyl patches make them WEIRD).

I personally have not used Metacam, but I know some people on the
lymphoma list I'm on have. Some kitties did just fine but there were a
few that had problems, now mind you these cats all have cancer of one
kind or another so it may have been the cancer itself that contributed.
I wish I could be of more help here Kerry. I do know that a friend of
mine has a Setter that is in extreme pain and she was told that metacam
was a safer and more effective treatment for inflammation than
Rimadyl. I also just did some research for a pain med called Buprenex,

I can speak for buprenex, Bailey got this on several occasions, and
he didn't have any side effects other than possible sleeping a little
more, but after surgery I guess that would be normal.

Patches didn't, and no one else's cats seem to have. But it is listed as a
possible side effect. It lasted for about an hour and gave her chills, but then
her fever went lower than it had been before the shot. Most cats do
