[Felvtalk] Both quit eating at the same time
I have 2 cats with leukemia. They both quit eating about a weekago. I could get one jump started w/baby food. But this isn't working this time. Itookone to the vet yesterday (the one that I can touch. We left w/Calavamox, Prednisone and Cyproheptadine. He also gave Sandy a B-12 inj yesterday. But he's still not eating today. Of course the vet said bring him back before Fri. if he didn't start eating. What he did yesterday was superchem(?), CBC, Urinalysis. Any ideas about what I can do? http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/04.gif";>Paula Howell ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org
Re: [Felvtalk] Both quit eating at the same time
If you can get a tube of Nutrical from your veterinarian, it will work as a food replacement until he/she figures out what is the main problem. It is designed for animals that are 'off feed'. It also has good levels of B-complex vitamins that will help to stimulate their appetite. They will usually eat it voluntarily, but if not, you can load it into a 3cc syringe and put it in their mouth. If you can get 3cc down them a couple times a day, they will be getting most of the nutrients they need. Good luck, and I hope the blood workup reveals what problems you are dealing with. [Felvtalk] Sweet Buzz
Hi Judie, I just wanted to let you know that Buzz is expected to make a full recovery. My husband just told me yesterday that the vet had only given him two days to live. You would never think that to see him now! His red count level is up to 18. Dr. Tom thinks he will eventually not even need any medication, but his levels have a way to go before that happens. Now that the crisis is over I would like to start volunteering. How is Chance doing? [Felvtalk] Need help-seeking forever home for feluk positive cat
Hi, Need help-seeking forever home for feluk positive cat. Female, young (between 1-3 years old), tabby, will be spayed and up to date on vaxes before rehomed. The cat was abandoned at the shelter I work at, she tested positive on elisa and IFA and now needs to find a home in a week. She will be pts if I don't find her a place to go. I can not take her in, I have four feluk positives, three dogs and a husband that says no more, plus I can't afford to feed another cat. Willing to travel, you will also get food with her and a carrier. Re: [Felvtalk] Need help-seeking forever home for feluk positive cat
Where in NY? I am in southern NJ, in a town called Millville. I am about 2 hours south of NYC, depending on traffic. I have three cats, one FeLV+ kitty and the other two are being tested soon. If they test negative they're getting vaccinated. I would love to help but I don't know if my boyfriend would go for another cat. Maybe I can talk my dad into adopting her. Would you be willing to travel to southern Jersey? Jennifer - PROUD VEGETARIAN & LOCAL SPCA VOLUNTEER.
