[Felvtalk] FELV+ kitten in Tampa needs home or foster desperately
My friends found a friendly kitten at one of their colonies, she tested a light positive on a snap test, was retested on an Elisa test which was positive. They plan to do an IFA in 2 weeks. She is 12 weeks old and was returned from the (wonderful) rescue who was helping with her as of course they had no where to segregate. My friends don't either and this sweet little girl is in a cage in a backyard and very, very lonely. What makes it even more difficult in finding a home or foster is that she just broke with ringworm & URI. I know it's like asking the impossible but if anyone knows of a potential home or foster please let me know, she of course needs as little stress & as much love as possible and right now is very unhappy. We also have another kitten who just tested a light positive on a snap test and will be retesting her (including IFA) in a month. But, they can't be combined since it is hoped she might still go negative. Please pardon a pathetic plea for help but if it helps get this little girl into a better situation, figure it's worth asking/posting. Thanks for reading! My friends who found this kitten are very wonderful rescue people doing constant TNR, with tons of kittens in their homes already and have no place left to segregate. You CAN find A/D online without a prescription but typically the added shipping cost makes the stuff prohibitively expensive. [Felvtalk] two feluk positive adult cats looking for a home...anyone?
Hi, Posting this for a friend that works at the shelter, all the information is listed below. You can always email me if you have any questions, and I could find the answers out or contact the SPCA of Westchester. Hoping someone wants to open thier heart and home to these kitties!! Any help is much appreciated!!! Thank you so much for all of the information. Here is the information on the kitties... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help get the word out for them... and post wherever you see fit. I trust you 100% and would hate for them to go someplace cruddy. Okay So their names are Piggy and Peeps. They are currently living at the SPCA of Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Their adoption numbers are 2116A and 2217A. They have lived together since they were 2 days old. They are both beautiful domestic long-hair females and originally adopted from the SPCA when they were kittens (almost 7 years ago!) Unfortunately, they were returned as the family who originally adopted them could not care for them anymore. They are big mushes and have lived in homes with kids. They don't really like being in a cage, but because they are FeLV + and the shelter has limited space, they don't get much free time out to play and stretch. They are listed on Petfinder under the SPCA of Westchester's adoptable pets. The contact information for their adoption is: SPCA of Westchester Briarcliff Manor, NY 914-941-2896 x22 l...@spca914.org They are both spayed and currently up to date on vaccines. Any help you can give to getting them placed would be appreciated. thanks Jeni jrock...@hotmail.com _ With Windows Live, you can organize, edit, and share your photos. http://www.windowslive.com/Desktop/PhotoGallery ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org

Re: [Felvtalk] Difficult decision
Hi Lorrie, This response is very late I know. My vets won't come to my home to euthanize, but if you look in the phone book you can possibly find a 'mobile vet' who will. I'm sorry you are going through this. It is so hard. tonya --- On Tue, 8/11/09, Lorrie wrote: From: Lorrie Subject: [Felvtalk] Difficult decision To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Date: Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 4:02 PM Dear Friends, I have a difficult decision to make, and I hope you can help... I have several FelV cats at a shelter I have in town. Most remain in good health by all appearances, however one 8 year old female has been steadily losing weight, she is now very anemic; extremely emaciatedm and she stopped eating two days ago. She will still lick a bit of baby food from my fingers, and she is still drinking water, but this is all. I know she is probably going to die soon, but I want her to die in familiar surroundings where she is loved, rather than having to make a trip to the vet which is always terrifying for cats. The vets here will not come out to see or euthanize a sick cat. This cat does not appear to be in any pain. She has no tumors, nor neurogical symptoms, but I know she will soon die from the anemia. I do not believe in extending the life of a cat who has a terminal illness, therefore I will not put her through transfusions or heroic measures. If I had a terminal illness I would not wish this for myself! What I'm asking is this I'm sure some of you have had anemic FelV cats and I want to know if dying from anemia is painful. If so I will have her put to sleep. Even though I know the trip to the vet will be frightening for her... I do not want her to suffer.
