Hi Kelly, Oh so precious! At least you've got some happy times to get you
through all the medical troubles you're having! Poor things, being so
sick--but what a trooper! I like to think that kittens can warm even the
coldest of hearts...
Clever name for Dibs! Hope you have many happy times in the future! Melissa

Hi Melissa,

Well, one of the new kittens, who I have named Dibs (ha! I am
adopting her, that's why she's named Dibs. If you want Dibs, start
your own rescue - get it? OK, it is probably just me that thinks it is
funny).

Anyway 3 of them are sick with diarrhea, so I took them to the vet
yesterday. He thinks they are younger than I had originally thought -
maybe 4 weeks? But they are completely weaned and everything, so maybe
since they were feral they just had to be tougher. She can't be
contained by anything. She's very smart and has learned how to climb
stairs and she can wiggle under doors. She climbed all the way up
into my *bed*.that is a long climb for such a little girl, not
even a pound...curled up on top of my ear, and went to sleep. A!
So cute!

dealing with special needs and FeLV complications! You are all a blessing!

But, does anyone have any cute stories to share? I'm so proud of our
little
Smokey (less than one year old). She thinks she's a dog, and constantly
wants to play fetch with her toys! We'll play fetch for a half an hour at
times-until she wears me out! It's so cute how she's constantly bringing
the
toy back, dropping it in my lap, and excitedly anticipating the next toss!
Then every morning there are usually several of her nightly treasures left
for us in one of the food bowls-usually a quarter, or my makeup tubes, or
her favorite-pens stolen out of the pen holders! Such an angel, and always
a
good chuckle to see what treat is in the dish!

Then Cassidy, the new FeLV foster cat, is starting to let me know all his
quirks. He loves to just lie in my arms and stare into my eyes-actually
eerie at times, but very beautiful! I've never had a cat make eye contact
for that long! And of course, there's the constant attempt to catch the
words on the computer screen-he's always trying to bite them!

Well, those are a couple of my favorite things-just thought I'd share like
the proud mommy I am! Please let me know any of your funny stories-we
could
all use some cheering up now and then! And forgive me if you've already
done
this in the past-I'm new to this!

 Meows and purrs, Melissa

Re: OT-cute things

2007-04-12 Thread Marylyn
Let me brag about Dixie Louise Doodle Katt, JP. A couple of weeks ago we
were in Louisville where her vets and alternative vet are. Dixie hadn't
been eating well and, therefore, not using her litter box as much as I felt
she should---especially with the recalls. I explained to her
that she either started eating and using the litter box or we were going to
the vet to have her checked out including appropriate blood work to make
sure she hadn't eaten bad food. I put down food and got the nastiest I'm
eating already looks. Later on I told an AC what was going on and my
concerned (I live at least 2 1/2 hours from Louisville in a county with 2
vets and no ERs). The AC checked in with Dixie who assured her that she
was very healthy and certainly did not need to go to the vets'. Not too
long afterwards, Dixie decided she needed to demonstrate her health to me.
She made very sure I was watching her as she sat by the stairs, ran up the
stairs at warp speed, somersaulted onto the bed and did all the rolling,
bathing, I feel wonderful things cats do. Needless to say, Dixie won her
reprieve. She sees her alternative vet frequently (more to sooth me than
her) but there is very little she needs from her regular vets and they agree
that there is no reason to stress her out by bringing her in for check-ups
and bloodwork when she shows no signs of illness.
