Re: Smokey / immuno-regulan
Susan,I only used it with one cat and that's when she was trying to throw a very bad uri and herpes. Both eyes were swollen, and she had to be put on viroptic for that as well.I pulled her through and she was good for at least 6 more years. When I did lose her it was to another uri.If you are willing to go through the protocol I would say do it. I also had to do it iv at the vet's office. Unfortunately CC was semi- feral when I got her. She had calmed down. But after going through all the vet visits, etc... to get her well that first time, she was mostly feral. If she had not been I would have kept up the immunoregulin.tonyaSusan Loesch [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I've been going to ask the same question - if anyone has experience with this. I don't recall dosage as it was YEARS ago, but 1 mL sounds right. My cat had no adverse reactions that I know of, but she was very sick already at the time we started the treatments, so I may not have known. Her worst adverse reaction was fear from going to the vet. :(tonya[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:1 ml, but Ginger got a high fever for about an hour afterwards from that dose. I started Smokey on immuno-regulan last Wednesday. He recieved shots for 4 days and then 2 shots per week. His problem was a recurring fever. So far he is fever free. He has been eating good and playing. He is also taking Baytril and Clavamox but I think the immuno-regulan has helped him with his fevers. I am keeping my fingers crossed. This has been the 1st week in over a month that we haven't had to make a trip to the vet or go in as an emergency. Re: Smokey / immuno-regulan
I think I did two shots, 3 days apart, and then she got better and I stopped. The cat who is 10-- she has had FeLV her whole life and done ok? I have never heard of giving I-R as a preventative immune booster. It's an interesting idea. I get scared of doing things like that because of the kind of side effects Ginger had, but they were short-lived, and if it can stimulate their immune systems to stay strong, maybe we should all be doing it regularly... Re: Smokey / immuno-regulan
Thanks - I am going to try that with a couple of my cats who've gotten bad URI's.The 10-yr old -- that is really weird. Calico and her littermate WildOneTrixie belonged to an elderly lady who got them as kittens - they'd been born around her house. Once she got them they never went out again. Calico tests positive and WildOne negative. They have lived together the whole 10 years - with the vet's blessing -- how awesome is that! Anyhow the elderly lady's son didn't remember exactly when they'd been tested but Calico has been on the IR for about 7-8 years. Calico seems so healthy that before ordering the IR we re-tested - and she is definitely positive. Our vet was kinda like "Well, I've never heard of doing that but might help, won't hurt" -- but he doesn't really have much faith that that is why she is still healthy - said she's just in the lucky % that doesn't get sick. Maybe that is true, but we just don't know for sure, and I don't want to stop her shots just in case. She gets .2mg once a month. Just on the off chance that it has helped her and might help my Daisy, I was considering giving it to Daisy in addition to the interferon but was hesitant about the IV part. But since it can be subQ, there is no reason not to try, I guess.[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:I think I did two shots, 3 days apart, and then she got better and I stopped. The cat who is 10-- she has had FeLV her whole life and done ok? Thanks, Tonya! We took in a cat from another town, the the vet had it on immunoregulan. We use interferon, but haven't used the immuno- regulan before. I'll have to read up on it. Hi I used it a couple of years ago on my fiv cat. She was anemic and found it helped alot. But she was so far gone by the time I used it she had the side effects of the ill feelings but within a few hours she was like a new cat for a day. There are different protocols. One is 3x a week then decrease to 2 x a week. The other was 2x a week for 2 months? I used the 2x. I wished I did I started with the 3x. Also wish I found Dr Cahill sooner cos he told me to cut the does cos it upset her stomach it made all sorts of noices for about a few hours and she lay there, I remmeber I said oh what did I do then she was fine. He said some cats you ahave to use 1/2 the dose then work up to it depending on the cat. Others had no problem. Carla
