Hi everybody,
I'm a newcomer to the list.
I just bought a Canoscan FS2720U, which works fine except for being
unable to scan at 36 bit color. The twain driver crashes (even with 36
bit aware photo programs, like Photoshop etc.) [I'm using Windows 2000]
I wonder if anybody had a similar
Most list members are still unreachable. I'm told by the list's ISP this is
due to a cable fault at level 3 and it will be fixed sometime today,
Monday. There is a backlog of 10,000 emails here, and I expect list
turnaround will be slow until this has cleared.

Does anybody know where can I buy online (internationally) Kodak's standard

I managed to buy it from my local pro dealer in Cambridge, UK. But it did take about 3

thanks for all the advice. got me thinking though - would be
nice for a piece of code to take a folder full of images and
burn them onto multiple cds (not splitting files over discs
or using archives), and auto generate the thumbnails to use
cd cover stationary...

(Any further responses to this should probably go to me off list - so as
not to clog it at a bad time.. :)
For anyone else who is interested in this printer, I found 2 enlightening
links.. but still no review from a 'real' photographer who has used one.
Same here in Slovenia, Ken. Browsed quite a lot through Adobe yesterday.
Try running tracert www.adobe.com from command line and you'll see where you
get cut off.

Greetings: I've recently purchased vuescan 7.3.10, to use with my
polaroid SS120. I'm on a mac G4, OS 9.1 with SCSI to the SS120.
35mm scanning ---no problem--- 120 negs I can't get a preview for

I did this ages ago, but to activate it I think I moved the FitImage.8LI

Try making 2 scans - one optimized for the highlights and one for the
dark area, and then layer them.

I'm intrigued by this comment - what is it about the Vuescan Kodachrome setting that
you find appealing? I understand that Ed created this setting to try to make the
different emulsions look similar, but have never really grasped the advantage to
that. I normally *want* the look of a
I apologize if I'm getting into some else's discussion, but I suggest the
following:
1. make the top layer active and choose blend mode screen
2. move the opacity to 30-40 %
3. you can make further adjustments on adjustment layers added to each of
the two scans.
I'm assuming you have the two

Hmm. This, of course begs the question, why have the slide option?

Hi, everybody. I've lurked long enough to feel as if I know you all - but finally
need help of a what feels like a simple sort and has me stymied. I'[m running a Mac
G4 with 9.1 and just downloaded Vuescan 7.3.11 and can't seem to get it to do anything
when I make preview and scan requests.
Quoting from the Vuescan Help file (I hope Ed doesn't mind):
