It seems that the new version of FilmGet (1.0.3) for FS4000 is far far better
than pravious. Finally my slides after scanning looks as original. The
exposure and saturation is correct without any manipulation. May be
only calibration time is longer. Does somebody observe similar things ?

It was a mistake. The Polaroid is a better scanner. The only advantage of
the Nikon is ICE. Dust isn't as big a problem on the Polaroid. The edge
softness IS there.
Keep the Polaroid.

It's XP Home and XP Pro. Your statement is wrong. Firewire is supported in
any version of XP. Home and Pro are the same operating system. Home just
lacks some optional features of Pro.

probably lower DMAX. In case of dark (underexposed) slides I am using Exposure
+1 and the results are satisfactory (properly exposed slides are giving always
proper results with auto gain). I hope that it will

would suggest, though, download the trial of Vuescan and try it
(www.hamrick.com). It puts a watermark on it, but it will give you the

aliasing making the quality
In my case, neither worked, and it had to go back to Polaroid for the CCD to

I have to praise Polaroid customer support. As most of you know, I'm having
a problem with my SS4000 and the cleaner gadget they sent me didn't help.

Thanks for the advice on handling Polaroid. I always try to be nice and
respectful. I think that gets the best service. I'm not really willing to
spend $250 a year to keep their product working, since I'm just a hobbyist.
If that is really a requirement, maybe it's time to try the Nikon g.
