It's an excellent scanner. The images are some of the best I've seen
from any scanner and the scanner seems basically like an LS-30

I have also used this technique with success. It is the workflow

Hey Mike--
Thanks for the Raw Scan Input. Thank you, too, Eli--it'll take me a bit to

The DMAX of the LS-40 will be 3.6 instead of the 3.0 DMAX in the LS-30.
Is the main improvement of the LS-40 over the LS-30 the USB connection, 12
bits vs. 10 bits, and slightly higher DPI?
HI, Ed!
Any chance of changing this? It would be great if we could play with the
exposure in preview mode without actually doing the scan. I imagine that
this would speed up my attempting to optimize the exposure on some of my
hard to scan underexposed slides.
If not, why?
Thanx

Unfortunately, it is up for debate what any Dmax is for the Nikon

Alan,
It depends on the image. Some images take just a couple of hours or so,
others I work on for days, never seeming to get them just right.

increases the number by 1. e.g. Crop0001, Crop0002 etc. The key is don't mess
with the +. You can even chang the number Crop21+ and
