Stan, select 'Device option type advanced' or 'Device option type intermediate'. You
should then see a checkbox on the Files tab 'save raw file'.
I think you only see the option if you have a scanner connected in 'Device scan from'.
So, if you are scanning from disk you don't get the option

I think the best way to do this is for me to just add a histogram and
then evolve it using people's suggestions.
It's quite possible that a simple histogram of the preview (within
the crop window) and the scan will be good enough. I can worry
about fancy stuff like movable

A diagram consisting of a number of rectangles or lines drawn

I don't think it is necessary to adjust the white/black pts. by moving

Yes, I agree.

My LS30 has no sensors so bad that

just averaged the values for each scan of each pixel rather than using adjacent pixel

While trying to find some info on Prince2, I came across http://www.ilearn.to/ . I
noticed some online training for Photoshop but nothing on Prince2 :(
Has anyone used this or any of the other training on offer from this organisation? It
seems that you can get a year's worth of training
of VueScan? If so, where is the evidence?
I hope that VueScan continues to develop and that it's users and Ed continue
to benefit from the developments.

PS: By the way, this evening (22:40 GMT) VueScan 7.0.4 is available for

Many thanks for your well presented information. I've learnt something but,

this and look forward to your reply.

Ed, don't kick yourself too hard ;-) The colour quality of scans from the
Epson 1200U is far better than those from the bundled Twain software. Well
worth the wait.
