Note that you will also have to adjust measure numbers if that's an issue.
That's also a simple fix. Just create a new region using the measure tool.

If the bar is split 1 and 2, then create a measure of 1/4 time, enter the notes
and back-repeat, and hide the 1/4 time sig. For the other 2 beats, create a bar
of 2/4, enter your notes, and hide the 2/4 time sig. Then go back to your
normal 3/4.

here. I downloaded the demo of Finale 2009, and while AU support is
disabled in the demo, SoftSynth playback is not - and it still plays

No, it is not a bad idea, and it's day will probably come. Already
there are a few traveling shows out there that use the technology, but
in traveling shows, nobody practices the music at the hotel, they go
there to get away from the show they play 8 times a week. Allowances
