I consider myself VERY competent in Finale, and I usually can figure these
things out on my own, but not this time
using 2009 Windoze version.
I have a bassoon line that I changed to treble clef a few measures back (at the
start of a measure) and now I want to change it back,

If you select the passage in question and then double click on it, you'll
get the clef with the handle.
The only thing that happens, when the clef metatool IS selected and I
double-click the meaure, is that the clef selection dialog box opens.
There are NO handles appearing
Select the partial measure and use the clef metatool.

Mid-measure clefs require the use of clef metatools.

I've just installed Finale 2011 and there doesn't seem to have been a
2011 folder created, just the application only.
So e.g. I imported a library from 2010 named my chords 2010 into a
2011 new document and then saved it as my chords 2011. But when I
search in the finder for it, it doesn't

But don’t mess directly with that 2011 folder, as you may loose your
registration. All imports better happen via the open Finale 2011 application.
