I recommend CutePDF; it works like a charm, there is a free version, and
it was our standard at Sarasota Opera. I bought the pro version as it is
pretty powerful at quite a reasonable price, and you get free upgrades
forever.
Once you install that, you choose CutePDF as your printer, and
