Yes I am, but transposition isn't there.
On the About Finale in help it says 2012.r3, this despite telling me
that my version is up to date. I've downloaded the updater and run it but
it doesn't seem to be doing anything at all.
I'm puzzled.

Right - I've shut down my computer and installed the update (it told me
that my version was completely up to date - did I really want to
continue). I continued and up dated Finale and transposition is now there.
Thanks very much!

Lawrence

I'm glad to hear it is working. It sounds like your previous update install
was somehow incomplete and you were seeing the un-updated dialog box for
Staff Styles.

Hi,
In WinFin 2012 how do I change the horn's transposition mid-piece, for
example 8 bars horn in F, 4 bars horn in D etc.
I used to do this in earlier versions of finale but I can't remember how I
did it (I thought it was with staff styles but this seems not to be the way
any more).

No, I've got 2012c and it doesn't seem to be there.

Thanks, but it says I've got the latest version.
I've found a kludge which involves changing to trumpet, then changing the
transposition and Garritan voice assignment but it seems the hell of a
thing to have to do to achieve something I use so often.

that it does not prompt me for an update. But if I go to the website I can

That's very strange. On my version of WinFin12c (that I just downloaded),
Transposition is the fourth option under Appearance.

Thanks Raimond, that's what I used to do but it doesn't seem available any
more.

Transposition was removed from staff styles in the first release of Fin12,
then added back in a subsequent update. Make sure your WinFin12 is the

P.S. You are opening the Staff Style Define dialog, right? If you open
the Staff Definition dialog by double-clicking the staff, it does not have
the Transposition option.
