Is there a version of this that'll work in the more widespread browsers?
Sounds like Polish avant-garde stuff (e.g., Lutoslawski)--never had tried
to notate like that.

Your link is no good.
But I strongly suspect that whatever you are trying to do, you will
need to upgrade to the full version of Finale to do it. Finale Allegro
is a very limited product.
