Katherine,
Don't "extract" parts. Finale uses "Linked" parts now...Use
"Generate Parts" from the Document menu. After that, you can easily
select and print the parts that you want.

The parts have to be generated first. I find even if I have to extract parts to
separate files (and I don't very often, as I much prefer to leave them linked
in the same file) if I do most of the heavy lifting format-wise in the LINKED
part, then there is very little to do in the extracted part.
