Pardon me, but what about using Microsoft Word, or any other word processing program for this? If the title page has no music on it, that's how I would do it, rather than trying to force Finale to do something it wasn't designed to do. The right tool for the right job, and all. As long as it

Thanks. I'll check out those links. The text will appear on a cover page. Custom Smart Shapes are required to be attached to a staff. There is no music on the page, so there is nothing to attach the shape. On Wed, Oct 7, 2015 at 12:12 PM, Jan Angermüller wrote: > Have you

If all you need is vertically oriented text without rotation of the letters, you can use the standard frame options on a page title to do it. If you need the letters to rotate, the only solution I know is a custom shape. Perhaps you could place an invisible bar of music on your title page. Ugly,

It's on a title page, and there are linked parts involved. I'd rather not put an invisible bar of music on that page. Back to the drawing board. On Wed, Oct 7, 2015 at 7:39 AM, S Jones wrote: > What about using custom lines like a glissando line using the word you want

Thanks. I wish they would make the text tool a little more powerful. Vertical text is very common in scores. It would be nice if there were an easy way to achieve desired results. On Wed, Oct 7, 2015 at 8:40 AM, Robert Patterson < rob...@robertgpatterson.com> wrote: > You could export a graphic

You could export a graphic either out of Finale or other program and then place it on the page. Unfortunately there are numerous buggy hurdles with this approach, but it can be done. For vector graphics you must use EPS. I so wish Finale supported importing PDF as a graphic. There really is no

Have you searched for sideways/vertical fonts ? There are quite some fonts available: https://www.google.de/search?q=sideways+font=lnms=isch=X https://www.google.de/search?q=vertical+font=lnms=isch=X There is also a rotated text tutorial for Finale with custom smart shapes:
