[Finale] articulation playback

2016-01-29 Thread Haroldo Mauro
In the score, there is this articulation which I don't want to affect playback.
Despite the "Playback Effect" in the Articulation Design window is set to
"none", it is affecting playback. What am I missing? It is a jazz articulation,
for a fall from a note. It sounds horrible, that's why I don't want it played!

Yes I do have HP - jazz. I'll test with no HP and let you know. And no, I
didn't edit. "None" is default, so I didn't need change it. Thanks.

Re: [Finale] Will Finale 2010 run on El Capitan?

2016-01-29 Thread Michael
I just tried running 2010 with El Capitan. It launched OK and I was able to
create a new default document and enter notes via MIDI, but when I opened an
older file (created with 2008) and tried to play it back, I got the message
“Unhandled exception caught”, followed by Finale crashing. I tried launching a
second time: the same crash happened immediately after I had created a new
score with the Setup Wizard.

I wouldn’t bother trying to install it.

Re: [Finale] articulation playback

2016-01-29 Thread Jan Angermüller
I think "Playback Effect" only affects the values that can be set in the
articulation designer (i.e. duration, attack and velocity). Other
effects like the fall/glissando are created elsewhere - usually in the
human playback settings. For example you can switch off
"Glissandi" in the HP Custom Style settings, or set Glissandi to
"Chromatic" instead of "Pitchbend" (or vice versa) which may sound a
little better.

Or: if you don't want to affect all glissandi, simply use a text
expression instead of an articulation. It will not be detected by human
playback.

Do you have Human Playback enabled? Try turning that off and see if it
still plays.

Another thought -- did you edit it after you placed it? Perhaps if you
removed that mark and then re-inserted it playback might be as you wish.
