if it is any consolation, redoing them all as gliss-custom-lines will mean you shouldn't have to adjust them in transposing parts :-| (whcih you will have to do with the built-in smart lines) but i do think the parentheses are helpful for distinguishing between the start and the continuation

AH! if it is a revised version then make another revised version named after the composer and remove the parentheses :-) then change the font defs for the 8va/vb shapes going out with a BANG! ;-) > On 03 January 2017 at 21:55 Dennis Bathory-Kitsz > wrote: > > > On

define/use a custom smart line, attached using the gliss tool (not tab slide). that way it is attached to and moves with the noteheads, as opposed to the built-in measure/beat-attached smart line. in custom lines you will find starting text, ending text and continuation parameters. > On 03

Smart Shape dialogue. Select the 8va line and edit it. In Left Continuation, edit that text to remove the parentheses. This will change all instances in the current document. Sent from my iPhone > On Jan 3, 2017, at 12:33 PM, Chuck Israels wrote: > > JD is right, of

Presumably, convincing the client he's wrong is not an option. You may have to enter the shapes on each individual line without overlap, after you've finalized the layout. Or there's always White Out. jd On Tue, Jan 3, 2017 at 3:11 PM, Dennis Bathory-Kitsz < bath...@maltedmedia.com> wrote: > Hi

Hi all, A client has decided he wants all the parentheses removed from 8va and 8vb continuations (where the shape goes onto the next page). It happens a lot. I don't seem to find either a smart shape option or other native way or plugin to do this without re-entering each 8va and 8vb separately

You could create a new 8va Smart Shape and change the continuation setting for them. But then you would have to replace all of them manually. Not fun if there’s many of them. I thought one could edit the default appearance to these, but I just checked and couldn’t find a way in. I would try

JD is right, of course. This requires replacing all the existing shapes - perhaps not practical and certainly not pleasant. Chuck > On Jan 3, 2017, at 12:31 PM, Chuck Israels wrote: > > Hi Dennis, > > I have a custom 8va Smart Shape (one of Bill Duncan’s) that allows
