Finale MIDI Setup window has MIDI-In Latency compensation feature. I am
not sure if I understand this. I don't know any sequencer program needs
to watch out for incoming MIDI data latency so why Finale does? What
exactly does produce MIDI-In Latency? Or is this a Window-only issue?

Hey Everyone
I'm on Fin 2008 and everything was going well until I started working
with formatting the linked parts. I've discovered my Rehearsal
Marks, inputted as Staff Expressions (boxed - set to display top
staff only in score and parts) have mysteriously duplicated
themselves and
I'm feeling a little stupid, because I can't get the repeats in this piece

to work. I've placed them with Create first and second ending from the
Repeat menu.
What have I done wrong?

Actually, the repeats are playing correctly, but it's the playback line
that's off!

I recently installed 2k4 and used it to open my favorite default file
that I have been using with 2K3. I have instrument names included in
my default file and they showed completely in 2K3. In 2K4 I notice
that the instrument names are being cut off by the left margin. For
I am tired of this program and I'm going to capitulate and do what everyone
else does over here anyway: I'm going to use Sibelius. I can buy an educational
copy, so it won't be expensive. I have been thinking about this thing for
months and I am amazed that it is so difficult. I suppose I'm
It will be interesting to see if you feel the same way after using
Sibelius for as long a time as you've been using Finale.
Please let us know.

A client doesn't like the down bow symbol in Maestro or Engraver (too thick).
I'd like to show them the down bow symbol from Opus (the Sibelius font). In the
articulation menu, when I choose the font for the down bow, the Opus symbol
shows, yet when I click OK, the symbol disappears. In fact,

Cembalo is Italian for harpsichord. Some editions simply show
continuo for this part, as the choice of instrument is often determined
by circumstances at hand.

It looks as though I can't split parts (with specified voicing) AND use
the cue plug-in, since specifying voicing hides multiple layers. Is the
only solution to NOT specify voicing, extract parts and delete the notes I
don't want?
Thanks.

I was never able to figure out how; when I needed one, I had a couple of
workarounds I've used since FIN 2k:
1) Create a mini ruler as a 3 inch long shape expression
