I'm working on a large orchestral score in Finale 2012b -- 33 staves -- and
while I know that can sometimes cause some sluggishness, I'm now getting
ridiculous, productivity-killing slowdowns, even on a fairly new and powerful
Mac -- the 2011 MacBook Pro Core i7 (quad-core 2.2 GHz)

I'm wondering if DiskWarrior is supposed to help with slow downs and so forth?
I have tried it on general principles once in a while and it seems to help
sometimes.

Thanks but is is definitely a Finale problem, not a Mac OS X problem or a
computer problem. Everything else runs fine and I keep the machine and OS
well-maintained.

Darcy, do you have linked parts in this document? I find that those are a
major culprit of slow behavior, especially in large documents.
Also (while in the Page Layout tool), look at the Edit Page Margins and
Edit System Margins window. Click the Apply to Parts/Score... button.

Does this occur when or because we use the setup wizard to set up a score with
linked parts?

i had probs of sluggishness recently that were completely resolved by
quitting linotype fontexplorer while using finale (had no effect on
font functionality)
support have confirmed an incompatibility between finale and font
management programmes. they didn't give me a list but confirmed
here is the solution:
Library/Spotlight/SPOTLIGHT_disabled/Finale.mdimporter

impression the support guy actually knew *exactly* why this
happens... i noticed it only on mac F2012
