The first thing to try is File Maintenance. That might fix the problem. At
the very least you'll get a report. On the report is something called
"Frames". Hopefully that number is nowhere near 32767, otherwise you will
be having continuing troubles.

When I do this in 14.5, using Speedy Entry, in the too many beats dialog, if I
tell it to move the extra notes into the next measure, it does just that. It
only fills the rest of the measure when I exit the Speedy edit pane, not
before. I do have fill with rests checked. Are you

with rests*. I don't want that. Fill with rests is disabled in Speedy
Options.
