To clear a selected length of a longer Staff Style, you can set up an
an iKey (as I have always done -- I'm not sure if I even knew there
was already a built-in shortcut), or use the contextual menu.

That Arbitrary bit has been a strange piece for a long time--all the
areas in and around time sigs and key sigs are sort of a No Man's
Land and have been for a long time. I think they set out to try and
correct this when selection was redone and discovered that it was far
more than trivial

You HAVE to click (or right-click) BETWEEN the staves, to the RIGHT
of the time signature, just as Carolyn so astutely pointed out. Other
positions have the other options greyed-out.

of the staff system gets Resize Page. Directly on a staff gets Resize
